short hop for fox

why is it so hard to SH with fox i can basically SH with every character but foc seems to be the hardest. I tap teh jump as light as possible but he does his full jump.

I have the same problem, it is very hard to SH with Fox but I've been practicing and it's gotten easier.

Ok basically for a SH to work you have to release the button within a third of a second after pressing it I believe but things get easier with practice all I can say is to practice in training mode with it under slower speeds then when you get it down with that speed increase it from like 1/2, then to 2/3 then to normal.

He only takes like what? Four frames or something to jump? Yeah, so it makes it a lot harder. I suggest changing the speed and practicing.

Ok basically for a SH to work you have to release the button within a third of a second after pressing itIt's 1/30 not 1/3. You can only have jump pressed for 1 to 2 frames so that it is not being pressed down on the 2nd and/or 3rd and you are then in the air and shorthopping on the 4th.

I've had probles in the past with it, but just lightly tap it. I really don't use it much, only for my blaster.

You must tap and release the X/Y button as fast as you can(very fast), the force you use for pressing it doesn't matter. Fox's short hop is the hardest to master, and in general fox is the hardest character to master, so keep that in mind.

We can't really help you at all. All you need to do is keep practicing.

Fox, Sheik, Samus, ICs, Pikachu, Pichu, and Kirby's shorthop timing/difficulty are all exactly the same.

Just release it fast, you don't need to lightly tap it, force has nothing to do with it, just how long it stays pressed.
