The Dragon Bird was created by Dr. Clash with the purpose to lead Ruy Suzaku to victory against Zoda in the F-Zero Grand Prix. Rumors float around the Internet that there might be a connection between Ruy Suzaku and Deathborn because both their machines have the number 00 and both machines have something to do with dragons.
