F-Zero AX Monster Ride

The F-Zero AX Monster ride is the ultimate version of F-Zero AX. The Monster Ride utilize the so called "Cycraft" machine made by SEGA and Simuline. The Cycraft consists of a base unit with a giant arm that holds a cockpit complete with a monitor, seat and force feedback steering wheel. The cockpit then moves around via three servo motors. All of this combined gives you the Monster Ride, the most realistic way for you to play F-Zero AX.

Its different to the AX machines in certain ways and there's no GC memory card or paper licence slot and while the normal AX cabinets can be linked two and two together the Monster Ride can be linked up to 8 Cycraft machines.

The heave actuator produces up/down heave motion by rocking the rocker arm which holds the passenger cabin. The two suspended actuators on the rocker arm assembly produces the relative pitch and roll motions. During the game, the game computer regularly sends the attitude data and other dynamic properties data in real time to the motion control computer. The motion control computer then calculates in real time, the motion necessary to give the passenger the best feeling of reality and converts this motion to commands for the motion controllers and actuators

The first Monster Ride was installed in Tokyo and was major crowd pleaser during the JAMMA arcade show. The second Monster Ride can be found in Earls Court in London and was released at the ATEI London Show. So far no other locations have been announced by SEGA nor Simuline, but be sure to keep an eye on any big Arcade shows.
