Lightning - Power facilities made by an unusual weather
World info: The perpetually dark skies of Lightning were caused by extreme air pollution that continues to destroy the ozone layer. Now the frequent bolts of electricity which hammer down from the sky are harnessed and put to use by innovative power companies. The total power generated in the efficient recycling facilities exceeds 10 million giga-watts. The output is so great, in fact, that Lightning now exports its excess power to neighboring planets.

Cup: Emerald
Difficulty: ****
Length: 1620 m
Staff Ghost: 2'50"296 (Sonic Phantom)
Strategy: Ok, you want a machine with a good maxspeed and good handling. Sonic Phantom is your best bet, or Death Anchor if you feel a little more ambitious.
Hit EVERY zipper. They are hard to memorise, but are crucial for a good performance. They are generally situated a short distance away from each other, but not always. Its those odd times when you use your boost, however always make sure you have some life left for the last stretch. You can chose the 100% setting, and use slide turns to navigate at high speeds. At the harder twists, keep central, as turning when your halfway up the wall into an S-bend is rarely beneficial. On the easy turns use drifting. The lasers arent too hard to avoid, but always save a little energy to boost out of them just in case. There is only one energy strip so be aware you cant boost very often.
Interesting note: The red lasers drain your energy |
Cup: AX
Difficulty: *****
Length: 24690m
Staff Ghost: 3'18"272 (Fire Stingray)
Strategy: You will want a character with good maxspeed for the long laps and a good boost. Try to avoid heavy cars also so the turns are easier. Sonic Phantom and Death Anchor are some of the best choices on this course. Boost on the straights but conserve energy - it's a long track and its easy to braze a wall slightly. Don't boost to close to a zipper either. Use Drift Turns all the time, and swing turns for the larger turns towards the end of the course. Grab all the health each time and have fun on this insane track!
