I like to take my time and Ike's range helps me to slow the pace of a round down a lot.

I prefer jumping over the arrows and then using dair. It usually catches them off guard and dair has some pretty impressive range.

I try to use uair if my opponent is on the platform above me and I can't touch him with an up tilt. The move has one heck of a punch to it. Unfortunately it's hard to use his uair since the range is much shorter than most of Ike's attacks. But as Gregory House once said "It's not about the...

I'm a fan of counter and I agree it must be used intelligently however I probably spam it more than I should. Actually, I probably use it most when I'm in the air which is a bad choice given all my other options... It does wonders against Wario's bike.

I main Ike and one thing I enjoy is having Mario or Squirtle use their waterjets to push Ike's Eruption into people. But at the higher levels of play I doubt it's very effective. Fun when it hits though.

Sorry to get side tracked from the down smash discussion but it doesn't seem to be flowing anyways; what does everyone think of Ike's running A? I like it because most people underestimate the range of the attack but from what I've read fair and nair are generally better options for approach...

I'm a huge fan of fair especially against projectile spammers like Pit. But could you explain the benefits of up-tilt? I'm not sure what opportunities are best for applying it.
