Lucario is a good choice when switching out of Samus. The difference in physics might screw you up at first, but that's to be expected when using other characters. If you want my totally biased opinion, you should go with Toon Link. He's a perfectly balanced character.

Or you could just use a Gamecube controller. This seems like an awful lot of work just to use a classic controller when you could be accustomed to GC controls before you'd be finished with this.

Toon Link is my favorite. He's a jack of all trades; the perfect balance between ranged and melee fighting, like Rambo, except smaller and more fragile-looking.
