Air Dash Online - A competitive platform fighter

I had a lot of fun playing the demo. Rough in many ways, but there was certainly a good foundation there that could be polished into something honestly great. Makes me wonder where the game could have been by now.

Judging by his posts above yours, I don't think Yamer needed to be told that. Blanket 'not interested' statements don't really contribute either. spacer asked you some good questions - why not answer those to elaborate? Likewise, giving the prototype a shot and dropping some impressions (good...

Me bringing up Project M was meant to say that it can't be compared to where that mod currently is. It took the PMBR years to 'smooth out the movement' according to their own goals and to meet the expectations of the Smash community at large. ADO, by comparison, has been developed from scratch...

More to show? They released a prototype you can play right now. It's no Project M at this point, but compared to most fangames and retail Smash 'clones' its gets a lot of stuff right that others haven't. I don't think the point of Kickstarter is to fund a game that is fine tuned and nearly...

Air Dash Online - A competitive platform fighter

So a project update says there's something new coming... Honestly, I think they need to scrape the Kickstarter at this point and try again in a few months when they can get the whole publicity thing sorted out. The project goal is too high to have a reasonable chance at success and $25 is too...

Air Dash Online - A competitive platform fighter

I think this is where the biggest mistakes were made. Running a Kickstarter "campaign" takes coordinated publicity. There really wasn't any of that at launch, at least not that was visible to the public.

Apparently you'll find out soon. They're releasing their prototype today. Regardless, I seem to remember them talking about there being hitstun. Funding this game would take a lot more than the dedicated Smash scene. That's clearly evident, and may have been a critical error in their...

Wow, I really love the background music! It's like a more mellow F-Zero music track, haha.

Pretty sure that air dashes don't replace the double jump. You technically could use air dodges for recovery in Melee, just not grab the ledge in special fall. There's no special fall with the air dash here. So double jump -> air dash -> up-B is possible. Happens at 20:48.

Too much like Melee in that regard isn't a necessarily bad thing. I think it'd be more egregious if they weren't doing anything new on top of that. Or if they put L-canceling in, in the way Melee had it. I'm not convinced about the shielding yet either. Looks very prototype-ish at this point...

Link to the stream: http://www.twitch.tv/clashtournaments/b/429533388 Forewarning, it's very early. You'll hear them say a few minutes in that they've had late nights the past 4 days to get it presentable, and that they put the second character in the night before. So there's still a lot of...

Good luck at EVO guys. After all this Nintendo stream nonsense, I'm really hoping you pull through with an awesome example of what an indie Smash-like can do for the community here.
