SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

follow my signature example again: picture data is: 3472394 --> signature is 5 I resize.. new picture data is: 3472395 --> signature would have to be 6.. 5 is WRONG now.. and thus.. a signature is only legit for specific data.. once we change the data (changing/resizing the picture) the...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

well.. yes, we can extract the signature.. however, we do not know how the signature is being generated: A typical idea is: you have the following data: 3472394 now you make a finger print by adding each digit: 3+4+7+2+3+9+4 = 32 and again: 3+2 = 5 ) Okay.. we've got a signature of 5.. this is...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

recrypting is technically no problem.. just we've been through this before: the files have a signature.. or in other words.. a finger print.. and we can't forge that one yet. So the game doesn't accept our files.

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

Hm.. the checksum still seems to be the largest issue we have.. however, what I am thinking about. I recently got a USB Gecko - this is more or less a development adapter for Nintendo Gamecube and Wii - basically I am also writing software for it - more details about the USB Gecko are availible...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

I wonder for the stage editor.. first of all.. looks cool. Well, I might have passed out some time (final tests at university for this semester) and as I am interested in technical things: is the 16 byte checksum now actually cracked? I did brute force MD5 attacks cutting together files and even...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

Lol, wow.. but seriously.. how much webspace do you have (or is it your dedicated server - rented or self-hosted)? 10,000 * 100 KB = 1 GB of just images - awesome!

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

Well, I updated my viewer for the snapshots.. http://ssbb.l0nk.org/ changes: SD key now included, no more need for bindecrypt - I am not too sure about legality, the key is therefore stored in a way to easily export it into an external file - for the rest.. some kinda file browser I owe to a...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

Basically, Nintendo did keep them secret very well.. they were cracked.. and you can imagine, once people crack them they spread very quickly.. although close to no one actually includes them in their software, it's very easy to get access to them thanks to Google, Usenet and whatever.

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

There are several by now: My converter can: http://ssbb.l0nk.org/ GTCoder's GUI can: http://gt.kakkoister.com/ And for the online decryptor you can manually set widescreen: http://gt.kakkoister.com/ So there are several ways now!

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

whoops, my bad.. yes I meant 16 bytes.. actually I copied some signature for testing.. yet right now I am very sure it's no MD5 signature.. I ran many brute force checks on the actual file without result - of course it could be a slightly modified one (modified base constants - but seeing these...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

I am now also doing some test stuff on the signature.. maybe we can get it cracked! Would be at least awesome! 16 bits kinda looks like MD5 - but md5 tests might already be hard.. we do not know where the Wii starts calculating the hash (meaning how many bytes are ignored at the beginning and...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

lol, steal whatever you want - yeah, basically, it's a viewer and the batch converter was added later - it's fully functional but it doesn't appear immediately (needs to be opened via menus) - basically the idea behind it in my case was - I do not like rechecking screenshots on the console -...

SSBB Snapshot files. We need to crack em!

that's basically it - when I started the GUI, I didn't know at all that there's going to be one (I did post that I didn't know and seriously this wasn't a program written in 20 seconds) - and looking at "stealing" - see where I credit his name every time (it's even compiled in the program - in...
