Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Fire Red and Leaf Green never helped Meowth "become known?" Your logic makes no sense. The anime may have made him well-known, but Meowth has been known about since Pokemon's inception. So? I can't think of any other Pocket Monster that can...
