perhaps the momentum from your forward b was saved and when you did your rock it started up again? Things that get saved often stop being saved when the character changes. I have no idea.

keep the pressure up. But do it with good spacing. Link's main advantage over marth is spamming lots of projectiles. So keep your spacing close, but don't get reckless.
