Tenchu

Hey what's up? My name is Tenchu and I'm a Luigi player. I started playing Smash 4 in late 2017 when my brother (who's a Wario specialist) got me into it and I got pretty decent at using Luigi on For Glory but I found it difficult to master his movement and cyclone gimp, so I never did as well as I felt I could. When Ultimate came out, I was a bit skeptical about buying it, but I am very glad I did. Ultimate is probably one of my favorite games of all time and easily my favorite Smash game.

I play Luigi for a multitude of reasons:

1.) He's my favorite video game character of all time. I love his games and I relate to him so much since I am very shy and introverted.
2.) I like combo heavy characters and he is an extremely combo oriented character.
3.) He has some of the best frame data in the game. For me, this is very important because it makes him difficult to punish and allows me to be very fluid, as I chain together many different moves together on the fly. I don't do well with characters with high lag on their moves (startup in particular), no matter how much range they have or how disjointed they are.
4.) He has a lot of different KO options.

While I did enjoy playing Smash 4, I found Luigi to be somewhat clunky in the game due to several parts of his toolkit not serving their purpose well and his poor movement and out of shield game due to his low traction.

In Ultimate, despite his nerfs worsening his recovery and making it more difficult to find openings (at first I thought his new tether grab would substantially nerf him, but I am very used to it now and prefer it over a standard grab, even in spite of its slower startup) I am extremely pleased with the changes and buffs he got, and he feels much like a much more polished and not as sluggish and unconstrained. I'm not sure whether or not he is better or worse in this game than he was in the previous one, but I easily prefer his Ultimate incarnation. I will mostly make a guide on how to play and master him, as I know quite a bit about the character and feel like I have much to offer.
