Yeah, it counts the same as using the move. You can use this to refresh your other moves when convenient (ex abuse Ness' DTilt so his other moves are no longer stale)

Yeah that's my problem - I'm in war with two other empires who refuse to cooperate, and even though I have 4 allies I still can't do much to hurt them ;/ It's a fun game, but... it's hard to do much when you're constantly being attacked.

I skipped the 2nd sanctuary and didn't go there until after Fourside I think. I wonder what happens if you get the 8th melody if you don't get the 2nd - does Ness still go in a trance? I'll have to try that next time I play through it.
