    What's your favorite thing about Melee?

    I can play this for years and years and continue to get better (not that I'm anything special, but you get the idea.) ...this game never ever gets old.

    Ness's Down + B should be as quick as Fox/Falco's shine, and his Dair needs less startup lag so it can be as awesome as Falco's spike. I also wholeheartedly agree that Ness needs a better recovery, better up/down smashes, and Marth's grab range.

    How to Improve - a compilation

    Great thread! I'm pretty new to the competitive scene, so I'm still working on getting my skils up there with the good players. The essays about Observation, as well as the four aspects of Melee are definitely food for thought. I wasn't Isai the next time I played after reading all of this...

    Great stuff. I would give more input on Bowser, since I have many fond memories of him owning me in Super Mario: the Lost Levels, but there's not much left to contribute that hasn't already been brought up. As for Yoshi... * Make his shield less of a liability, like ScoobyCafe posted...

    His most obvious weaknesses are his recovery and his lack of a solid finsher. * Longer range on midair hookshot (to improve recovery) * Fix his spin attack and bombs so they can actually trap opponents for every hit. * Improved shield (deku shield) that consistently blocks projectiles. * Needs...

    Roy? * Make him heavier * Less hitstun, so he'd be harder to combo * better hitstun on attacks so he can combo more easily * An up+B that goes farther and higher, so he can recover. ...That's all I can think of. Any other characters?

    Since we're jumping around, any more ideas for G&W? How about the other bottom tiers? I posted some ideas for Ness a few posts back (Buff his yoyos, improve his recovery, give him a better grab reach, make his Down+B quicker like the shine, and improve his Dair.) ... and Yoshi could use some...

    Solid buffs. Maybe it would be a good idea to G&W a (much) faster roll, even if wavedashing is almost always the better choice at high levels of play.
