You may have noticed users on SmashBoards with a mushroom icon - - designating them as premium members. Although normal membership on SmashBoards is always free, premium membership provides an alternative funding source. You can think of it as a tradeoff - you pay SmashBoards a small amount of money, and in return you will gain extra features and privileges that will enhance your visit at SmashBoards.

- No ads on ANY SmashBoards forum pages - that's right, kiss popups and banners goodbye!

To highlight some things: the ability to define your own Custom Avatar and Title can be done on the spot and does not need to go through any of the Super-Mods or Senators. You can change it right then and there yourself, whenever you want! Also, you can upload your own avatars (as long as they meet size restrictions and aren't animated) to the SmashBoards server for use as your custom avatar. When your membership expires, the custom avatar and title you have at that time will remain yours until you change to a forum default avatar via your usercp.
