I dropped Samus when Ultimate came out because I felt like they nerfed her midrange game in exchange for OPd CS, and I enjoyed her mostly for her midrange game--ftilt had its range reduced, zair had its hitbox nerfed and no longer combos into dash attack, dash attack got nerfed, etc. I play Peach now and she's incredibly fun/top tier, but I've been thinking of picking Samus up as a secondary with the buffs in the most recent patch, especially since zair feels so much better now.
She's definitely really good and got every improvement Smash 4 Samus mains dreamed of (bombs activating when they contact hurtboxes, a kill throw (why is uthrow so strong now??), usmash and dsmash buffs, killing dtilt, CS being aerially chargeable and b-reversable, missiles being more useful... literally everything I ever asked for). With Quik being full-time Smash now I'm expecting to see more from her in the future. I've been watching his streams a lot lately and he's got a really interesting mindset--he always comments on what he can do to make punishes more optimal, like "I should've bomb fsmashed instead of bomb utilting" or "I should've dsmashed there instead of just dtilting" and his stream just goes on like this throughout every game. This is the same dude who destroyed Samsora (in a non-PGR event admittedly) before he went full-time, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the future.
Samus could be a sleeper top tier imo. She still "loses" to a lot of the same stuff she lost to in Smash 4--Fox stuff, Greninja stuff, etc--but then in this game CS is doing 35% for no reason and she's just more punishing in general, so she can afford to lose neutral more.

Interesting. Would you care to hazard an MU chart for her? (or basic losing/winning matchups?) I have only dabbled in the character, but was considering picking her up as a secondary for some of my tougher MUs
