I am sure most industries keep in mind that many consumers still use optical technology, if for no other reason, for marketability, so I do not think you need to worry about that completely phasing out in our lifetime. However, I am frustrated that many establishments assume one uses all of the latest means of communication, education, entertainment, etc.

Well the thing is, once everything isn't sold in stores anymore and all these big companies just sell nothing but digital media in stores or even online, the scalpers will take advantage of this and hijack the price of all physical media online that still exists.

Technically, Blu Rays ARE digital.

Well at least Blu Ray is a actually disc/DVD. It's not a digital download even though a lot of Blu Ray sets have a digital download code already in them.
