i didn't know the boards were 18+

are we seriously allowing porn?
is this happening??????
No people just don't understand how to separate personal life from the game
And most of the time don't care

And there's no mod online atm

This isn't as bad as it was a few days ago

On a serious note.

Do you guys just write "Magus, Magus420" when you want magus to come explain something? Does he always name search himself ? lol

It's like "here's my card, call me"

One of those things that you might as well

Half serious half joke
Meaning that the long explanation is more than I really know

Spacing is most of it

But there's a complicated system involving if it's
a) within 5-7%
b) a disjointed hitbox or not
c) spacing

I'm not entirely sure iirc
http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Priority

Also, nair always beats fox's nair if it's spaced correctly.
The thing about moves being between 5-7% is ONLY for when two ground attacks hit each other. If two ground attack hitboxes hit each other and are within 7% damage of each other they will clank; otherwise the one that does more damage will go through the other one.

Most of the time when people talk about spacing they're talking about aerials anyway. If it's aerial vs. ground, or aerial vs aerial, then the only thing that matters is the hitboxes and hurtboxes. It's exactly what you said here:

Another short answer:
The hitboxes overlapping and stuffs
you don't want that
You want your hitbox to hit their hurtbox but you don't want their hitbox to hit your hurtbox
Just look at the hitboxes and you should have an idea of what beats what, if spaced AND TIMED correctly. Falcon's nair will indeed beat fox's nair if both are true (the timing is pretty important cause there's no hitbox between the two hits...).

Also, people should probably be trying to summon Strong Bad these days instead of Magus (though I don't know if he namesearches).

Yeah man. That nando kid sure was a saint. It was really unfair that he got banned, we should totally put together a player fund to get him back on the boards.

Actually Norcal has BART which is a subway system for the bay area, has a train about every 20 minutes but since CGCs stopped being ran SS can't make it to any tournament. The current Is This Tournament series HMW is running is in San Jose and BART doesn't go down that far.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
Well, I'm not saying that the city systems are necessarily bad, but even living in the greater SF area, you could easily be outside of walking distance to a form of public transportation that could get you to the BART or Caltrain. I dunno, I've just always been given the impression that if you live on the West Coast and want to be able to get anywhere, you need a car or a ride in someone else's. And I still think East Coast has a long way to go with public transportation too, but at least you can get around the DC -> Philly -> NYC -> Boston region using exclusively public transportation if you want to.

That sucks, I've heard public transportation is bad overall in the US, but I thought that mostly meant quality and how often they depart. But nothing at all? T_T

In Sweden the majority go to tournaments by bus and train, and a few lucky people go by car, but that's also because you can't drive before you're 18, and even if you can drive it's not guaranteed you will have a car available (it's not as mainstream in Sweden, or western Europe for that matter, to own a car).

Fixed for you

Like you said there are a few notable exceptions but as a whole you need a car.
I had a French exchange student and we talked about it.

He said
"Before I came here, I said 'Americans don't all need cars, they're just selfish and lazy.' But when I actually came here, and saw it, I realize that you do need a car. It's a very different experience."

I said
"Yeah, I think it's because our nation is so young, and so big. Europe is really big, but so many people live there that you're building up rather than out. We didn't have as many people, because we were so young as a nation, so we build out rather than up. We like our personal space and property, so we try to stay away from each other when it comes to building stuff. So, we need to be able to drive everywhere, because there's no real way to ride public transport from one place to another here. Especially between small places, like friends houses."

I mean there are obviously more factors to this, but as a rule America has tended to build out instead of up
As we get more and more populated I feel like that's going to be the way we'll have to do it.
But for now we just have built into the vast expanse of land that is America.

it's possible to get tournaments w/o a car (at least in norcal), just gotta be willing to ride some. i have no car and go to tournies here in san fran, east bay, etc (south bay tournies are near my house)-- just take some work or music with you, hop on the train/bus, and enjoy the ride. i don't have people to play with frequently, or time, so it's worth it for me to set aside a full day to smash once or twice a month-- point being that if you really want to play, you will go

Yeah this is true. It's just a lot easier to have a car.
Like you said, it really is the whole day taken up to play. And you can't get off to get dinner, for example.

Eh
If you really want to play, you'll go
Like you said

Went to Is This Tournament 3 yesterday, didn't get out of pools but I was happy with how I did. Had close games with Joe Replicate, went 1-2 against Tang, beat his Marth game 2 but lost games 1 and 3 when he was Fox. And lost to one of the guys from Idaho but I'm gonna blame/john him being Falco and killing me twice when he was one 1 stock with shield stabs through full shields, and one of which was a light shield. Beat the other guys in pools. I wasn't feeling nervous or messing up my movement/tech skill as much as I usually do in tourney. So cool, little confidence building steps during real matches aw yeah son.

And for anyone who was worried SS quit or retire or can't go to tournaments or whatever: He got 2nd, and he was dressed quite slick while doing it.
