****! this was an awesome thread. it makes me sad its over. but im also proud i was one of the few here at the very end.
The contest has ended. For reference, here is every entry I've compiled. Congratulations to all who participated. It's essentially a large repost of all my lists. And if I missed anything, once more, PM me. Specify a missing entry or if I categorized something wrong. For the former, I would appreciate it heavily if a page number was given to make things easier on me.
Only the characters are in chronological order, because at some point with the other categories, I threw it to the wind.
So here goes. It's a long one.

Here's my personal selection, with honourable mentions. I judge on a variety of things, along with moveset quality. I haven't read all the movesets admittedly(The list was mostly comprised of skimming), so if one I see in the future dethrones a favourite of mine or deserves an honourable mention, I'll put it here.
Some characters fit into multiple categories of mine. I'll vary as much as I can, though.
Favourite Original Character
Chris Lionheart & Ryann Trueshot by Chris Lionheart
From the writeups in the moveset, and the moveset itself, it's quite clear that Chris took a lot of time even before the contest examining and re-examining this world he created for these two. (Almost to an obsessive/self-projectory level, maybe. No offense, Chris, but that's the vibe I got.) Because of this, the movesets being in character and tons of detail, I pick this one as my favoured. It has its own unique charm.

Meme Man by smashbot226 (It's neat to see just how much things were fitted in there.)
Erutashi Orrandey by Iron Thorn (Like Chris & Ryann, Iron Thorn's spent a lot of time imagining this character, if the moveset and the DA account she linked to tell me anything.)
Steve Underhill by fly666monkey (Eh... it's really lacking compared to most of the movesets in the topic, but A for effort, at least. He really had potential. If only the execution was a little better.)

Aqua Teen Hunger Force by El_Duderino
At the end of the day, none of them I've seen really beat this one out for me. Not just in the teamwork aspect, though, but also in pure originality of the moves. Almost every single of their moves is a nice ATHF reference, which shows Duderino really did his homework, which helped him in the long run. It holds up really well.
That, and I already found it a pwn moveset ever since I started the list.

This moveset has a lot going for it. Strong in terms of originality and execution, a good idea on how the character feels like, and it's fun to read. Also, it's not an easy feat placing a real American satirist into the Subspace Emissary, and IvoryFlame did it without a hitch.

Shaq by Super Wec ("Shaq turns into a giant and throws giant basketballs at people" There's nothing in that sentence not to like.)
Barack Obama by cheap_josh (Like Colbert, the moveset's style was interesting, to say the least.)

-Adeleine, a tag-team member of Kirby's hero roster in Kirby's Nintendo 64 game, was truly an original character: a little girl whose painting come to life. SirKibble presented her perfectly: the best details being in her standard special B move (I believe), where her random painting do different and creative attacks. I would've voted for more of SirKibble's, but I'm trying to give everyone equal credit/recognition.

-A dark magician from the "Toon Legend of Zelda" series, Vaati is a truly original character. The descriptions were good, the length of the entry was good, and I think that it was a brilliant idea by Smasherk to bring in more Toon Zelda characters! (SirKibble, don't think I don't recognize your Toon Zelda/Tetra. They're just as good.) But this one is my favorite from Smasherk808.

I actually hate Invader Zim. But his moveset was genious, and it reflected Zim's show/personality brilliantly. I especially enjoyed this blip for an idea of Zim's Subspace role: "Zim, after months of intensive Earth-watching, notices that the Subspace has been used on Earth, swallowing it in a whole of darkness. He then immediately decides to save Earth so the Irken Army can later destroy it."
Toon Zelda/Tetra, by SirKibble
Again I say that I really enjoyed the Toon Zelda series characters! I seriously think they could be a universe all their own in SSB... and SirKibble and Smasherk808 did an amazing job showing what they could be like! What especially interested me was Tetra's unique new moveset.

After a close comparison of all 3 Paper Marios, Vulcan55's came out on top for me. He did great work with Photoshop or whatever as he changed the costumes for alternation, and he used a LOT of Paper Mario's partners to do his physical dirty work. It was a beautiful could-be-a-great-character-that's-not-a-clone-for-once, just like Leon Palowski!

Typhlosion was an awesome Pokemon Smasher. Particularly, I liked how she named all her moves, it made it so much more... visual-lizable, if you know what I mean. 5 stars and an epic win.

M&S Guy baffled me again with making Waluigi a unique character. A lot of people think that he's an overrated idea for a new character, a boring one at that. But M&S Guy presents that he can be unique, just like any other character... *cough* other than Wolf...

Again, I think that Zero and almost any Megaman X character would be good in SSB. But I compared his to Shadow5567's moveset and his was better, giving good detail and more material to read.

If I had to pick any Square RPG warrior/character to be in brawl, it'd probably be either Serge or Cloud. Serge's uniqu "swallow", a double-sided blade, is pretty cool, and Smasherk made him unique in just that... he based his specials off of his major magic spells, which makes him a balanced fighter, too.

I really don't think that Celes is a great idea for smash, but that's not really the point of this thread. I'm a huge fan of FFIII/VI, and Celes was created in a manner that reflected her ice and offensive magic along with her abilities with a sword. Toon Zelda/ Tetra--would have been so easy to just go the Sakurai route and give Toon Zelda her own moves. But Sirkibble was better than that.

Other Winners--to me, at least
Teen Ness--to age a beloved Nintendo character several years and imagine what he would be like to hutzpa. Well done.
Yoshimitsu--Namu namu, Blitz-K nailed it with this SC rep.
Jeff Dunham--Hilarious use of puppets as battle weapons.
Tabuu--that annoying despot we all know and loathe has been envisioned as a sweet character.
Invader ZIM-- Sindel must be an enormous fan of the series, and it shows. Zim's moveset is pure joy.
Weegee--It's Weegee, nuff said.
Ginny Weasley--My God, did you people read that moveset? You know she's from Harry Potter, because that post was as long and detailed as one of the books.
I realise these descrpitions may be general, but forgive me. All the above movesets truly deserve their spots. Also, if you guys feel compelled to vote for any of mine, I'll be flattered. Although honestly, some of mine don't deserve it. Looking back, I wouldn't vote for Rorschacheven if I could. That is all. Good luck to everyone!

Aqua Teen Hunger Force--such amazing detail, it had to happen.
Ren and Stimpy--see above. A dead-even tie between the entries.
Vent--my god, he's liek 5 character sin one. You can't top that!
Best non-clone characters that could have been
Toon Zelda/ Tetra--would have been so easy to just go the Sakurai route and give Toon Zelda her own moves. But Sirkibble was better than that.
Leon Powalski--Finally a Star Fox character who does something different. Vote for hcange, people!
