Oh yeah he kinda is.Im sure there is a few magic numbers you can add to the code to stop your momentum being stopped at edges and whatnot.We'll see.

Dude, Makkun, we should TOTALLY do that tomorrow night. I've been desiring to do some friendlies with it on, otherwise, I will have to wait until Friday (my friends are coming over to play with the WD and use it and stuff). No Tripping + WD = win.
Yeah, I won't be able to play with my friends either until Friday, one of my friends is having everyone over at his house. :p

Also, I won't be able to start the thread with the IN-DEPTH TUTORIAL on how to hack your Wii and use the codes until I get home from school, and then I have to go mow my grandparent's lawn which takes about an hour. @___@ I get home from school at 3:00pm EST, so you can expect me to START on the thread around 4:30pm EST.

I will try to cover as many common errors are possible, but it is going to be much easier if people just tell me their problems so I can fix them and record how I did it, that would be a lot easier.

It won't be against the rules for me to make this thread will it? I know a lot of other threads have links on how to do it, but not an in-depth tutorial, is this okay?

Edit: Falco400, we should hardly have any lag when we're playing. :p We live sort of close (I'm in Toledo basically) and I have a 10MB connection.

I'm not following. Why is that bad? Melee was a competitive success. As long as we keep the fighter's movesets like they are, brawl will be brawl and not melee.

I'm for Wavedashing in Brawl, and basically a Melee 2.0, but you do know hacking the game like this is BASICALLY making it a completely different game, right?

Brawl is the ability to do multiple air-dodges, and to not combo. Sakurai made the game different because he wanted a different game, not Melee 2.0.


As long as the Brawl competitive scene is still alive I don't care if there is a tourney scene for Melee 2.

It WAS ported but... not so sure if it will work.

I have to say, as awesome as wavedashing in Brawl is... I just rewatched the Shiz vs. M2K set, and it's not even comparable. Wavedashing increases mobility but it's still the same old Brawl concept of trading hits until you get to high percentages, then it just takes longer between hits, and finally someone dies. Melee, if you make a mistake, you die. Very quickly.

But I digress, I don't want to make this another MvB thread. Just saying, you guys should rewatch those :3

Looks like I found an infinite ledge stall (infinite invincibility frames too) all thanks to directional airdodging lol.


Hang on the ledge -> press back -> Quickly Airdodge without any direction. (may differ with characters)

Hello Is there a code that enable put the defense with the minimum presure on L and R buttons?

It could be usefull in addition with the "wavedash" code

Could you test it with all characters?

That may be a good way to edgehog ANYONE thanks to it not being easy to do so in Brawl except for people with tethers recoveries.

Oh, this isn't my code, and I don't know how the code works. This was all made by Phantom Wings, I was simply reposting the code 'cause someone asked for it. And the two different lines of code were probably the only things that needed fixing in that update.

Edit: Would it be safe for me to start my hacking tutorial in the General Brawl discussion now?

u guys think maybe adding this code will be accepted in a tournament???
I doubt it would ever become a standard in big tournaments, but I can see a decent playerbase starting up to the point where you wouldn't be hard pressed to find a tournament somewhere locally.

Finally got everything installed and added and I have to say this is pretty fun. Althought I noticed something (Sorry Phantom. xD) with the code posted above me. When I air dodge the helpless animation doesn't start, I still can't attack, dodge again, jump, or anything like that but the helpless fall animation itself is not there. Nothing serious or bad about it, just odd. Any reason why this might be happening?

Also, the CPU's don't recover when you knock them off the ledge, lmao. xD

All in all this it's pretty neat to be wavedashing again. Kudos to Phantom Wings for taking the time and having enough intrest to create these codes.

That's because a lot of the characters don't have a fall special animation. So what he did was is after air dodging, any other buttons except for Zair is disable until you hit the ground.

Wavedashing is a very insignificant technique in the long run of competitive Smash. Give Brawl come L-Canceling.
Eh, that can go both ways really.

But again, l-canceling isn't what Brawl really needs, it needs hitstun. L-canceling would be nice to have, but without hitstun we'll never see any real combos as people will constantly be able to just attack you while you're in the middle of a combo.
