I find it strange that there hasn't been a topic on the character selection screen. here I will leave my CSS code for anyone who is interested.


ZSS and shiek are individual but can still switch. the pokemon, on the other hand, cannot. that is why PT is still there.


Please note that I did NOT make the code. I just customized it so it would have the pattern I made.

I've seen one just like the mario one, except w/ MK. Close enough.
I thought it was the "Meta" Game with 35 MKs and a Snake

I haven't actually used any of these because I want to make sure I've got it all right. These are all 40 characters, with Samus/ZSS split but not Shiek/Zelda. They also have PT and non-independent pokes, and, afaik, none need custom random. This would mean I would need these codes, yes?

Don't forget to add the default settings mod so you don't have to reset the game to 3 stock, 8 mins, etc... every time you boot up

Add some textures and no tripping and you have what I am currently playing with right now

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm working with, except without the no-tripping.

:D I finally figured out how to get around having 5 character icons in a series: throwing Samus between Mario and Link. Personally, I prefer this over my others.

Is it because if the Pokemon engine was WFC compatible then it could be used to make Giga Bowser work on Wi-Fi?

Nevermind. It was the independent Pokemon engine that wasn't WFC compatible. If it's turned off it'll still have Pokemon Trainer but that's good enough for me. Now I can't use epic CSS on Wi-Fi. :D

From my limited knowledge of coding for brawl, this isn't possible as you need to find the PAL addresses for the values you are changing.

I know, still doesn't stop me wishing there was a simple and easy program that you could just stick US codes into and bam, fires out Jpn/PAL codes.

A guy can dream...

Mic, we should have both a PAL version and JPN version of the Plusery within a few days i think. You can nab the CSS codes directly from there when we do

I present here the best custom CSS around. I base this claim on its amazing ability to group characters based on their relations to each other, their attributes, and playstyles--among other things. Lets just say I like to categorize things.


Note: This is not a photo of the CSS in action (I don't have a digital camera at the moment to take a photograph of it), but characters were arranged from a photo of a previous set of mine (which excluded MK while he was still broken in B+, thus the absence of the icon for him).

As you can see, characters are mostly grouped vertically, as they should be. When grouping characters horizontally the arrangement will look confusing because the group doesn't start and end at a boundary.



As you can see highlighted in pink, the Mario universe characters are grouped together, this should include DK and Diddy. Peach is appropriately put next to Mario.

In purple are the Starfox characters, an obvious grouping.

In yellow are the Legend of Zelda characters. Obviously, Zelda and Shiek should be put next to each other--same with Link and Toon Link. Since Brawl's Link and Ganondorf are both from Twilight Princess, they are grouped horizontally together.

In orange are the Metroid characters

In purple are Fire Emblem characters

Lime green are 3rd party characters

White are retro characters

Dark green are Hal characters, with Ness grouped with Lucas, and Kirby characters also grouped.

In peach are the Pokemon. When designing your CSS, it should probably be arranged such that Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard are kept in that order, as it coordinates with the order they'll switch using the pokemon.



Other groupings are also used:


In yellow you can how all the bad guys, minus Dedede, are grouped together (DK was the bad guy in the original Donkey Kong game).

In pink you can see that all the transforming females are grouped together.

In blue the human swordsmen are grouped.

In orange, you can see that all the characters with multiple jumps are grouped together, with all gliding characters in the top row (I've included ROB here, though his "multiple" jumps works differently than the others).

As you can see marked by purple circles all heavy characters are at the bottom of the columns (the heaviest things fall to the bottom, get it?).

The green lines mark the connection between all the tether, and tether grab characters. I tried to keep all characters with tether dependent recoveries on the same row (Ivysaur, Olimar, ZSS). I included Ice Climbers for this since Nana uses a tether when recovering with Popo.

Not marked is the subtle connection between all new characters brought by Brawl, the grouping of pink puffs (lol), grouping of flying swordfighters, and groupings based on similar names (Wario/Wolf, Lucas/Lucario, etc).

That reminds me of the periodic table of elements. Superficially I could think of nicer looking ways of laying out your CSS (like having MK, DDD, and Kirby occupy the top three slots and have Lucas and Ness be side by side for the Hal characters etc), but not without disrupting all of the grouping you've managed to do. Congratulations, I never would have thought that much about the CSS.

And you need to add CAFEBABE to your sig.

Just the basic original CSS with the added characters at the bottom. Good if you're not going overboard using a ton of codes and modifiers, and just want to edit a few minor things but mostly leave the game the same.
