270 average =(. I have terrible reaction time.

We would play quizzes in high school where the first person to raise their hand would be the first to answer (game show style). Yeah I only got points when no one knew what the answer was.

XD rat i remember those kind. I played it from the opposite side, I always tried to be first to raise my hand. On equal knowledge, highest reaction won. You probably were actually the smartest though :p

That website is sweet!

edit: brain explosion!

Ok so I have a question for all you Sami. What is samus' best position against fox on Battlefield?
(I could define position but it ends up being complicated. So I want to see your answers. I will also attempt an answer but not right now because well.. I don't have one. so I have to think it through.)

Comments?!

I really liked the patient edgeguarding, taking full advantage of falcon's UB lag time
I noticed you did not UB OoS a whole lot, were you unsure of whether or not it would hit? Or did you not feel that it would go unpunished? I saw you had safe landings when you did it near the edge, were you looking for these kind of setups or what?

i think hugs 'osht im behind' playstyle is the best i've ever seen lol.

Sidequestion:

IHAVESPACEBALLS

rough estimate, how much time (weekly) do you spend practicing wavelanding? what form of practice too

cause i've got it pretty consistently but obviously less-so in real matches

jason

my tourney record is pretty bad tbh, let's see i've lost a set to rohins a while back
garbanzo kicked me out once more recently
i'm pretty sure zoro beat me in a set as well

i'm most likely going to wato8 tomorrow so i'll let you know how that goes
i haven't narrowed down the problem yet but i'm considering the possibility is that i decide early on in the match that i will lose and refuse to suprise myself lol

right now i've got that feeling that i can win though, i'm hopin it carries over
i juss gotta play more smart man! MOAR SMAHT

lololololol i swear i thought your name was either jacob or jason

anyways what i was asking was actually how you place like 0-2, 1-2, 200-1 you know
i usually go 0-2 but went 1-2 once lol
or how you do in pools
basically i pretty much lose to everyone
but i think i'm getting there and i really really hope i perform well in pools at pat's house

i did ok in pools ( i went to a second round of pools) at active gamers so my confidence is up
i think i lack experience and more smart play too
because i the other day i saw hugo play a guy that was tearing me up consistently and hugo baited the guy so well and ended up 2 stocking him
:(
i mean i could see what was happening and how things were working
but i dont' know how to do that in my own matches lol
HOW DO YOU DO IT HUGO

sigh

/life story

same
i usually get 2-0'd
not to say they're not close
but i juss don't win 1
i went 2-1 with a luigi though lol

i'm fixin to win wato8 though so it's all good

and yea, i remember i had mad friendlies with a guy IHSB beat in tournament, cornel and could not take a match from him

i'm going to try to stop thinking about the outcome of the match and juss focus on the match itself
what i need to do right there right now to get my next hit in and try to keep that mindset through the whole game

To be honest I was sort of intimidated before I started playing jeff, cuz it was my first time playing outside of socal since I returned to Melee, and he's norcal's hometown hero.

I felt like I was back at square one with the game.

I'm over it now, and I am feeling really solid about my game right now.
Just last weekend I placed 1st out of the likes of Zhu and Lucky.
I managed to beat lucky 3-0 in three dead even games. I did not fight zhu however. And I also managed to beat Fly Amanita, and avenge my losses to Larry aka DEHF aka the guy that beat ColBol.

I lost only one single round that whole day (DEHF).

So I'm very excited for Pat's house. We'll see how it goes.

If I play Melee by myself (I live with PikaChad and Iori, so this isn't very common), I usually won't play Samus, unless I've thought of something I want to test out. So "practice" is entirely friendlies with my roommates and local smashers, which happens at least a couple times a week. During them, I'll usually play Samus about half the time, and waveland a lot because that's just how I play.

Sorry if that's not really the answer you were looking for, but I don't really "practice" very often anymore, I feel like my tech is where I want it most of the time.

na that's all i wanted to know
i get together usually a few times a week with my friends to play smash
but i practice prolly an hour or so every couple of days usually
but i notice if i go for an extended period of time w/o practicing/playing it slips so juss wondering what it takes to stay consistent once i get em

Wish I could help. But there is no fighting a Marth with Samus. It just cannot be done.

I was honestly thinking about using Fox against Marths just because Samus is such a tough char to use.

I posted some advice in the critique topic.
It is a hard matchup, but I have yet to meet the marth who does juss what he needs to do to win.

How do you do the jab-cancel shield pressure thing? I tried just timing it and tried crouching in between jabs, but it seems a lot slower and thus ineffective when I do it.

Go into a crouch facing to the right. Now roll the control stick as far diagonally back as you can without walking the other direction. It's JUST BARELY before you get to the notch between down and left. If you hold the control stick in that position, and press A, you'll jab straight out of the crouch. This also allows you to jab cancel without moving the control stick. You still have to learn how fast you can press A without doing the second jab though.

practice makes perfect

i used try to do it and got grabbed because my timing was horrible
that doesn't happen much anymore

you could also try learning the down-and-away method instead
EDIT: which is what he just said

Eh, I wouldn't try to jab shield pressure in FRONT of the opponent lol.
I remember when I first started implementing it and my friend was like wtf broken I can't grab you.
Then I told him that yes, in fact, he could grab me.
Now he grabs me.

i thought you could jab in the front...i've done it to people
when i've gotten grabbed it's cuz i've spaced it bad
even rat said you can jab a marth from the front if you space it perfect
so even if they can grab, i'm guessing you can still do it if you space well

obv it's **** if you jab them from the back though

also **** i broke someone's shield poking at them lol

O I wasn't aware you could out space marth's grab with jabs. Hm I'll have to try this.
And if you ever get a person who likes to shield your missiles, get his shield down to about half. Run/wavedash up right on him, and lay like a bomb or two on his shield. I've broken my marth friend's shield like that a few times hehehe

Wassup everybody ^_^

I feel kind of noob asking this, but what do you guys do against falco's double laser from the ledge? I try to full jump and come down with a nair when i feel like he's going to do it, but sometimes that doesn't work if they purposefully shoot the first laser high. Plus they still have some invincibility frames as they jump and shoot the first laser....

Any ideas/suggestions on how to punish it?

oh i know! haha, once a falco is off the stage that should be the stock. But, i screw up lol.

I was just thinking maybe just light shield right next to the ledge and then catch him with up-b?

I just keep pressing A so I can jab him right off again if he decides to be persistent. If he knows that is my intention then I get ***** though -_-

Sometimes I just run away once he grabs the ledge since he has options there whereas I dont so I decide to play it safe.

EDIT: Cool SNSD sig. Never noticed it til now. ♥ Sooyoung and Jessica.
