Cutter: Eh, but like the way you brought yourself in seemed really forced. I mean, you're not a premium and you just chow up in the Disco Room... Idk though.

@ Heartz: I know but I want to know who it isssssssss :p And Why/what?

Anyway:

Chapter 11: United We Stand

The warriors of Disco Room were impacted by Heartz's words, and they decided that they should listen to her. They didn't exactly know what to do to fulfill her wishes, but they knew a change needed to be made.

Teran was overjoyed to see this, even though he had not revealed his quest to anyone in the city yet. He decided that if these men heard of his journey, that they would perhaps redouble their training and strategize with him. He decided that he must call the entire city together to inform them of his plans, and he thought that he should gain the help of one of the most well respected citizens of Disco Room to help him. This man was Motel Vacaville.

Vacaville spoke in riddles, though his words carried deep messages. His prophetic wisdom resonated with the Disco Roomanians, and they gathered around him whenever he left his home.

Teran found his house and told him of his quest. Vacaville simply replied "socks," which really riled up Teran. He became a bit pissed off, and called Motel Vacaville a bloody ****er. Vacaville was displeased with this, and hit him in the jaw and Teran backed away.

Vacaville decided that since Teran had not visited in a while and did not remember some of the language of the Vacaville, he would not kill him. He instead replied "Tomorrow."

The next day, Vacaville went to the town square, where Teran was waiting for him. The townsfolk gathered around him to hear him speak. Addressing the crowd, he said:

"Teran requires help for his work. We are the socks that will go with him where he goes, and we will ward off evil like an onion. Some will stay and await the tuba call and be sandbags, while others will accompany like a tie on an employee, wherever he goes to get coffee. Defend him like the honor of your sandwich women, and return home victorious, with the Queen's head on your spears like a kebab, and red kool aid on your swords."

The Disco Roomanians then knew what they had to do.

I tried to represent my isolated nature in that chapter symbolically. Maybe it was a little forced though, but I wasn't trying to make that a priority or anything :/

Okay, it seems that I need to clarify some things.

I did talk to Vrael today, and I do think that it would be preferable if people did not introduce themselves as characters. Not because I'm interested in seeing a great story; I'm really not concerned about the quality level at all. This is supposed to be fun, and I suppose there's nothing more enjoyable than writing about yourself.

My concerns are two fold. First, part of the idea of this is to write about other SWF members and how you would imagine them. That's why I chose Teran as the hero instead of myself, to make a character out of him. I didn't specify that in the OP because I assumed it went without saying. I apologize for any confusion.

Secondly, I fear that if a new character is added in every single chapter, then the project will eventually collapse under it's own weight. We're already dealing with a potentially gigantic cast, and that's not a problem if posters get bit parts. But the tendency to make ourselves a big deal is pretty hard to avoid, and we can't have 50 major characters, or else this is simply going to become too unwieldy to continue.

BUT, all of that is irrelevant anyway. It doesn't matter what I want, or what any individual poster wants. This is a GROUP PROJECT, comprised of individuals adding to the whole. Whatever direction the story takes is the right one as far as I'm concerned, which is why I left the rules so general in the first place. I'm more concerned with quantity than quality: I want as many posters as possible to contribute and enjoy this as possible. I don't really care if the story is any good, as long as people like the process.

The lawlessness of the Disco Room amused Teran. He chuckled to himself as he saw Neko chasing ladyboys around town. He was weary, weary from all the travelling, the nonsensical babbles of Vacaville, the evidently insane Queen of Heartz. As he walked down the cobbled street, he was surprised to see the powerful Lord Hylian, with whom he was acquainted in the political sphere.

"Hylian, fancy meeting you here." Teran was happy to see a slightly more refined character than the rich rogues normally found.

"Likewise, I didn't think I'd see you around these parts." Hylian chuckled and took a swig of a sparkling dark fluid.

"What's that you're drinking?"

"Oh this?" Hylian shook the glass bottle and a small fizz sounded, before a brown foam started billowing out of the top. "Oh ****, can't let any of this get away." He desperately licked the side of the bottle to collect the foam.

"Right yes, that... stuff" Teran's had a bemused look on his face, he was unable to contain it.

"You think I'm an idiot huh? This here is what they call Dr Pepper. It's a highly rare and expensive beverage, brewed by only the finest of potion makers. Tastes great."

"I'll look into it, looks interesting. You know anywhere around here where I can stay? I'm not staying at the houses of these nutjobs. Money and no law is a bad combination."

"Ah right, yeah I think you wanna stay at Arthur Reed, it's a famous hotel, huge place, bit noisy but the rooms are okay."

"Sounds good, where is it?"

"Just follow the ladyboys."

"The..."

"Yeah you know, the umm... Neko's entertainment."

"That's just great, Neko's entertainment. I think I should tuck my hair under my collar. Take care Hylian."

"You too. skldfjgnbgkajgnbslkfnjb" Teran jolted at Hylian's random outburst. He turned round to see Hylian on the floor out of breath in a hysteric fit of laughter. "Look at your face... Scared the **** out of you!"

Teran smiled and turned around, typical pranksters, all of them. He followed a group of transvestites, trying to keep himself as inconspicuous as possible, in case they had ideas about accompanying him for the night. He was relieved when a grand, yellow brick building came into view, ornately decorated with statues and fountains, gilded gates guarding the front garden. Two guards were standing at the door. The closer one had a badge on his lapel inscribed with "BBQTV".

"Your business zam?"

"It's Teran, not Zam, you must be mistaken."

"No it's just how I talk, I know who you are zam."

"Okay well I'm looking for a room, I want to stay the night at this place."

"Talk to my friend over there, I just hit people zam." Teran moved to the other guard, who was seemingly transfixed with a puzzle on the weekly journal.

"Excuse me... Stealth Raptor? Mr Raptor?"

"Yes how may I be of service. Not only am I the man in charge of rooms but I also know everything that goes on around these parts."

"Well first things first, I want a room, a good room. Not a suite, just a good room. No need for maids or whatever."

"Very good..." Stealth Raptor checked his listings and beamed as his eye caught a vacancy. "A perfect room! Number Seventeen, King Size bed, ensuite bath, basic kitchenware, sound good?"

"Sounds fine. Also, seeing how you're the one who might know. I'm looking for a certain mercenary called Cutter, weird guy, covered in metal, spikes and **** coming out of his hand."

"Oh that fella? Yeah sorry boss he doesn't have a Mushroom Insignia so he's been detained for questioning. They want to know how he got in."

Teran's eyes narrowed slightly, and he turned his head slightly to the left. His smile faded, and he gazed into the distance for a while.

"Something wrong Lord Teran sir?" Teran's eyes met Raptor's, and he smirked.

"Nothing wrong, nothing wrong at all. Just lost a good bit of money on advance payments for that mercenary that's all. I might have to do something about this. Get him out."

"I'm 'fraid that won't be happening, he'll be here for quite a while, you'd better hope he can escape prisons. If he's a merc and you've paid him, he'll come sniffing back when he escapes."

"You're **** right he's coming back, or I'll melt him and turn him into ****ing cutlery." Teran's voice was not raised, but he never raised his voice only because he saw it as a waste of effort. "Give me the key mate."

"Here we are." Raptor pulled out a heavy, brass key. From the tempering on the key it could be told that the lock was of a high quality too, and thus probably the room. "Thousand a night, I'll bill you in the morning."

Teran made his way to his room, and put the lock into the door. The well oiled lock was like a glove with the key being a hand, the turn was easy and the door clanked open. Perhaps now he would get some rest in this bizarre place.

Flashback to Frown's series of unfortunate events.

Chapter 13: Futility Revisited

The grinding and moaning of the elevator descending could be easily heard as it reverberated throughout the catacombs inside the palace. It was moving at a moderate pace, but to Frown, it felt like it was slowing down to a standstill even though it clearly wasn't.

It didn't take long for the elevator to reach its final destination though. It abruptly stopped, making Frown's body shake briefly. He could see a pair of double doors as the guard continued to strongarm him. The doors opened up by themselves, as Frown was escorted to a very dark room lit by violet-colored torches close to the walls. The corridor was narrow in shape as it seemed to go on straight forever.

"Where are we going?!?" protested Frown.

"Why should you care?" said the guard with a bit of a sneer.

"Well what did you mean when you said I would be having a date with the Queen?"

"That should be all you need to know," replied the guard. He was trying his hardest to stifle his laughter.

The guard must have picked up the pace because what was once a seemingly endless hallway ended with another door, except this one was adorned with all sorts of arcane symbols on it, with a peephole at eye level. The guard touched one of the rune-like symbols at the upper-right hand corner on the door, and it slid back and away on its own. This room was medium sized, with bright torches illuminating the room quite noticably.

"Stand here," muttered the guard. He forced Frown just close to the center of the room. As Frown placed his feet there, chains and shackles immediately popped out from under him, completely restraining his feet and immobilizing in place. The guard then walked back to the side of the door.

"Remember how you were bugging me on what your 'date with the Queen' was? Just wait and you'll know what I mean very shortly," said the guard under the grin he was hiding.

Frown meets the Queen.

Continuing chapter 13:
The guard walked out of the room.

"I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die..." Frown mumbled. He was shivering.

He kept staring at the huge door in front of him, waiting for Queen Killjoy to majestically walk out of there. After a few minutes, still looking at the door, he heard a voice from the back of his shoulder.

"Hello."

Frown yelled like a startled pig and fell to the floor, covering his face with his hands.

"Why is it that people always faint when I approach? Just because I like to sever limbs of innocent people doesn't mean I'm scary!"

Frown looked up. Yup, it was her.

"I'm.... I'm not afraid of you", Frown said, realizing how dumb it sounded.

"Sure you aren't", Queen Killjoy replied. "Get up from the floor, you'll make it dirty."

Frown obeyed.

She moved her face towards his ear and quietly said:

"Now, you will tell me what the hell is going on, or I will rip out your spine and strangle you with it."

This was the moment. Frown grabbed the dagger he had hidden within his sleeve and attacked the queen. But somehow, she managed to grab the blade and pull it out of his hand.

"Foolish sap." she said and proceeded to use the knife stab Frown's foot from above, nailing it to the floor.

"Let's see if you want to talk when you have a little less blood in your body, Frown. I'll be back."

Frown screamed in agony as Queen Killjoy marched out. As he looked her way, he saw that she was bleeding from her hand. He suddenly grew a lot more confident. He had managed to hurt her. She was mortal.

Chapter 14: The Ghost

Right when Teran was about to finally sleep after meeting an insane Queen, a Mercenary who was caught, and talking to a man who spoke only gibberish. He heard a strange noise.

"Who's there!?" he screamed as he pulled out his blade from under his pillow

"An old acquaintance." The figure said in a soft but wailing tone.

As the figure came into view Teran whispered.
"KOTH? is that you? I thought with my investigation I got you banned from this forum?"

"You did but I had unfinished business, after I recovered from cancer I was supposed to die from the swine flue and remarkably come back from the dead. But all that is ruined! So I came back to place a curse on you!"

Teran not at all threatened by the ghosts remarks, just cut the head off and and pushed the ghostly corpse out the window. And with that interruption gone Teran could finally fall asleep.

I had a lot more fun on this one :D

Chapter 15: No Pain, No Gain

As Queen Killjoy left the dilapidated room, she quickly turned back, changing her mind about seeing Frown shortly. To her, she wanted to know everything about Frown now. Time was of the essence.

The queen turned around and started to walk back towards Frown, who was still clenching his teeth and moaning in pain at the knife still stabbed in his left foot.

"Now what..." panted Frown faintly.

"Things have changed," replied Queen Killjoy calmly. "You've been a most uninvited guest in my palace, and I would like to extirpate every last drop of information you have."

She snapped her fingers. Almost immediately a tall, dark figure entered the room, completely cloaked. He walked slowly to the midpoint of the room just behind Queen Killjoy to her left.

"You get the pleasure of having me personally interrogate you," said Queen Killjoy in a softer, yet more dangerous-sounding voice.

"So who's he?" muttered Frown.

"You don't need to know. So... do you know the whereabouts of Teran?"

"No idea... what you're talking about," stammered Frown. He still noticed the area on Queen Killjoy's hand that had been wounded. The blood had clotted partially, but he could still definately make it out.

"Fine. Have it your way," snapped the queen. She approached Frown until she was just right next to him. She raised her right leg, which revealed a black, spiked high heel shoe. Frown closed his eyes as Queen Killjoy stomped on Frown's uninjured right foot. As the heel impaled Frown's foot, he screamed in pain with tears coming out of his eyes. The pain was so bad, he felt as if his right foot was on fire and being electrocuted at the same time.

To make matters even worse, Queen Killjoy pulled her heel out as slowly as possible. The initial pain had subsided a bit for Frown, but it almost came right back even after the queen fully dislodged the heel of her shoe. She then motioned the figure behind her over. He fumbled around inside his cloak and pulled out a pristine rag. He bent down and cleaned the blood-soaked heel of Queen Killjoy's shoe.

"Wwwwhy..... ga..." yelled Frown, who was still in incessant pain. He was unable to put a sentence together, let alone an actual word.

"Have you heard of the secret writings of Teran you piece of ****?" asked the queen in a demanding voice.

"You starting a book club?" mustered Frown. He coughed heavily afterward.

"That's the best you got? Nothing more?" sneered Queen Killjoy. "For you, I have... something special." She snapped her fingers again. The figure then plunged into his pocket and pulled out a dagger that was green-colored, with a crooked blade. The figure kneeled to the queen has he bowed his head, giving it to her.

Queen Killjoy grasped the handle of the dagger and put the point right on Frown's right shoulder. As she slowly stabbed Frown's shoulder, Frown felt the point of the dagger penetrate the crook of his shoulder as she slowly slashed through into his upper right arm.

Where the wound was, it began to glow green. Instantaneously, Frown screamed as he had never screamed in his life. The pain was so excruciating, he forgot where was actually was. And then without warning, he blacked out and collapsed onto the floor.

The figure next to Queen Killjoy then got close to Frown and nudged him a few times. He then took his fingers and placed them under Frown's jaw. He didn't feel a pulse.

"Yep. He's dead," the man mentioned.

"No he isn't! Revive him," snapped Queen Killjoy.

The person then fumbled around in his cloak again until he had a few smelling salt capsules in his palm. He crushed the capsules and put them right up to Frown's nose. Slowly, he coughed up flecks of blood as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Mr. Frown," said Queen Killjoy in a deadly sing-song voice.

Frown grunted and groaned faintly.

"You died Mr. Frown," continued Queen Killjoy. "When you die, I can't hurt you anymore."

"Seemed like the thing to do," muttered Frown. He coughed again, his head still spinning from the fumes of ammonia that came from the smelling salts.

Chapter 16: The Hooded Men

Suddenly two men in red hoods burst into the hall.

"Caotic! Chaco! What is the meaning of this! Not even high priests are allowed to intrude!" screamed the Queen.

"My dear Queen, We have foreseen much trouble if you kill him now. He also will not speak yet. Give us time and we will conjure up something to make him talk." said the hooded men in unison.

"If you are lying or incorrect, I'll have you two suffer a fate worse than his. LOCK HIM UP!"

With that the Queen stormed out of the room. The hooded men chained Frown and brought him to a dark cell.

"The sword of your enemy may be your only shield..." muttered Caotic as he exited the cell.

"The shield of your enemy may be your only sword..." muttered Chaco as he exited the cell.

Bewildered, but inspired, Frown contemplated the meanings of the strange hooded men.

Holy crap this sounds like fun!

Chapter 16 cont.

Frown said nothing as the two priests made their way out of the dungeon. He knew for sure that what they muttered must have held some importance, but he was in far too much pain to really give a d@mn. Frown wasn't quite sure exactly what had happened, he tried to trace the chain of events but was far too tired to do anything. He laid his head back against the cell wall, at least he had the infromation and could was ready to give it to his supperior, Hylian, when he got the chance to excape. Just as Frown was ready to nod-off, he noticed what appeared to have been a suit of empty armor open it's eyes.

"It's good to see that I'm not alone," said the armor.

Frown looked up at the hunk of metal, "Who are you?" he asked.

"I am known as Cutter. I was in a place known as Disco Room, a seemingly neutral location where I had hopped to earn some easy money off of that orderless place."

"And how did that go?"

"It turns out that I wasn't aloud in there, and I was taken away for questioning. But to my supprise, there are some in that town who are smarter than they seem and are actually working with the Queen. And it appears that Killjoy is interested in my talens, but is unwilling to pay."

Frown cared less and less and he went on, and eventaully he had thought that time had come to hit the hay. But the poor man still wouldn't get any sleep, for a guy who appeared to be in his late teens bursted through the dungeon door. "Let me tell ya Straked, that whole 'northern front' thing was just not working out for me-" he stoped mid-sentence and took a short look at Frown. "You're not Straked..."
EDIT: Someone should write something on their computer that keeps track of this little tale.

Chapter 17: Rebellion!

The Queen sent an emissary to each city in the land to inform the leaders of the cities of the threat Teran posed against the country. Soon signs were plastered over the walls of houses and castles all throughout the land, with a picture of Teran and a wealthy reward for bringing him in, dead or alive.

Even though Disco Room had no leader, and the Queen herself had little to no power over it, she still sent a messenger. This man traveled with a retinue of 10 guards, all bearing the Queen's emblem. They were sighted at a distance, and Vacaville was called to see what was going on. He instantly knew what was going on, and instructed the men of Disco Room to prepare for a battle.

The messenger and his accompanying soldiers were easily cut down in a matter of moments. The Queen had enchanted each emissary so she would no if they were harmed.

She had a company prepared to take care of any city that defied her, and she instantly deployed them to Disco Room. She was furious at the state, but knowing the fact that Disco Room was mainly autonomous and disliked when she attempted to put her foot down, she could not be sure if Teran was being harbored there or not.

Motel Vacaville told Teran that now was the time to leave, because he knew they'd be under siege soon. He also told Teran that he could only take two men with him on his journey to Jam Stunna, and to stop nowhere on the way.

Vacaville knew his men must be aroused and ready for battle. Weapons were sharpened, gates were reinforced, provisions were stored inside the walls, and armor was donned in order to prepare for the inevitable battle.

Teran told Vacaville that he would make the choice of who would accompany him the next day, and that he had to sleep on it.

The soldiers, for once, were serious about the coming fight. They had had minor skirmishes before, but normally with roving bands of men attempting to gain entrance, nothing like this. They had mere days before the Queen's men would be at their gates, and they drilled and trained like never before.

They were determined to show that they were still some of the greatest warriors throughout all of Smashboards.
If you guys think it's too early for something like this to happen, tell me. I don't want the story to advance too quickly because of my post, but I felt like Teran's scenes need to catch up to the Queen's scenes.

I personally that it's fine, gets things moving.

How many sub-plots do we have going? We should try to limit that otherwise this will turn into Pirates 3.

Well at the moment we have two, 3 kind of. Actually maybe 4.

1. Queen/Frown (could be same or different)
2. Teran/Disco Roomanians (Will be different once Teran leaves)
3. Firus, who no one has really mentioned in a long time. I'm sure he'll meet up with one of the other subplots again, so it's not really a big deal now.

Hopefully we don't get to like 10, that would be extremely annoying and confusing.

We should we've the sub plots in to the whole picture. I might make as summary on what needs to be explained later.
Yeah, someone should keep track of things. If a plot hole arises (and there's probably already like, ten of 'em) It'd be nice to have a reccord of things so we can see possible ways to fill in said hole.

Haha, if kill people off later. Wait until a good time. It's stupid if you just say "Then __________ had a heart attack" or "then _____ spontaneously combusted" or something.

Well subplots involving Teran and the Queen are standard fare. They're the two central characters to the plot, the story revolves around them. It's only natural that they'd interact with other characters.

Chapter 18: No Rythm

"ALL YE RESIDENTS OF THE LIGHT HOUSE! THE QUEEN HAS DECIDED TO MAKE CONTACT WITH YOUR SHUT-IN LIVES" yelled a Black clad messenger on the loosely populated main street. Despite the Light House being a prosperous city, most of it's residents where shut ins. The only ones actually outside at the time consisted of a few rare souls and outsiders. Slowly, residents came out of there houses, most of them had pale skin, mostly from the lack of sun.

"THE QUEEN HAS DECLARED THAT THE GAMING PROVINCE SHALL BE HEADED BY 2 GOVERNORS!!" The crowed suddenly perked up. Since the messenger was F8AL, a notorious tax collector of the queen, what was thought to be another unfair and premature tax collection turned into some thing more interesting.

"*ahem* Due to a turn of events, in other provinces, the Queen has appointed more than one Governor." The crowd, suddenly cried in uproar.

"GET OUT OF THIS CITY", cried some.

"TELL THIS TO THE QUEEN. SHOVE IT UP YOUR *crack*" cried another one, who in her anger hit a large flower pot on a nearby window still, cracking the brown hardened clay.

"Maybe we should steal Crimson king's sword and shove it up where the sun don't shine where the queen sits huh?" The crowed stayed silent in total shock.

"What I was making a simple joke....it's not like he's behind me or any thing....." Suddenly, the villager turned around in shock if in the likely event that Crimson King was behind him. The only thing he saw was the deserted streets. Sighing in relief turning around, he met face to face with a crimson breastplate. Slowly lifting his head upwards, he saw him.

Almost everything on Crimson King was a consisted of a shade of red. Red armor, red hair, a red sword and more notably his eyes. The eye's where filled with hate, anger and most of all blood lust. Some say he was born like that, others say that he obtained those eye's from a raving madman, some even went as far to say that the queen's high priests summoned demons to give them those eyes.

The unfortunate villager tried to empty his bowls and his bladder. Crimson King quickly drew his sword and swiftly struck the blade in the man's gut.

"Sorry, can't have you making a mess can't I?", whispered the enforcer.

The man slowly turned ghost white, and Crimson King pulled his sword out of him. The sword had no hint of gore, and gleamed in a even darker shade of red. The corpse, shrived on the street as well seemed more like a paper cut out of the poor soul.

"I AM IMPATIENT F8AL", shouted Crimson King.

"SINCE THE UNFORTUNATE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY COMRADE, CASHED, I, CRIMSON KING, HAS DECIDED TO TAKE A PROTEGE!" The crowd held heavy thoughts. Just what we need, another Crimson King, was on the minds of most villagers. But others were filled with the thoughts of Cashed, who by most people, was almost a complete opposite of the man standing before them.

"I KNOW PRESENT TO YOU, YOUR NEW 2ND GOVERNOR, SKYLER OCON!" Suddenly on the stage was a young man, no older than 15. The villagers all shocked by this revelation. It was common knowledge that a old man by the name of Skyler Ocon was a major figure in the resistance. If any thing Crimson King sensed the aura of the crowd.

"YOUR PITY RESISTANCE WAS A FAILURE. WE HAD FULL KNOWLEDGE OF IT THANKS TO OCON." The young man stood with no hint of emotion on his face.

"NOW GET BACK TO YOUR HOMES. BE THANKFUL THAT YOU ALL DIDN'T END UP LIKE THAT MAN THERE", he said pointing to a pile of dust and bones.

A majority of the villagers slowly returned to their homes in low morale. How can Skyler Ocon betray them? Some went to their homes emotionless, thinking that this was some punishment in their past life.

One person who was out of sight for the whole time smiled. But if a passerby where to pass that spot at the exact moment they would see nothing. But here one thing.

" It has begun."
Yea tell me how it was.

Just change the detail about his age :p

UNLESS THERE ARE TWO OCONS... O_O
WHAT A TWIST!

Or unless Ocon is actually a shapeshifter who actually works for the Queen! And his advice to Teran was to mislead him and will all eventaully pay off becuase of some insanely elaborate plan!

I just filled in a massive plot in in a matter of two lines. Awesome.

Frown becomes cellmates with yours truly :p

Chapter 19: Confinement

The man that had mistakened Frown for Straked suddenly became crestfallen at not finding Straked. Dejected, he walked out of the dungeon floor, head moping. Something had gone off in Frown's brain about that guy, but he still couldn't register why it was relevant. He was still in great pain after what had just happened to him.

"Hah, it'll be funny to see if he can actually get out alive," mentioned Cutter.

"Whaddamean?" implored Frown. He could feel intense, sharp pain from the places where he was impaled in both of his feet and a burning sensation from where Queen Killjoy slashed at his arm with that eccentric dagger.

"Well this entire palace is booby trapped," explained Cutter. You name it, it's more than likely hidden somewhere. He chuckled a bit.

"And how do you know that?" asked Frown. He continued to grimace from the non-stop pain radiating his body.

"Intuition," said Cutter. This is such a massive palace, with some of the most complex mazes and labrinyths I know of. There are in reality very few guards that are around here. Probably because Queen Killjoy didn't want spend more money on guards that aren't guaranteed to always do their job. So instead she has booby traps combined with a much lighter array of normal guards to reinforce her bastion."

"Makes sen-- Ow..." cried Frown. He was nursing both of his feet as he sat on the floor.

"What happened to you?" demanded Cutter.

"Just look."

Cutter bent down to Frown's right side. He stretched his legs, and Cutter saw two bloody holes in both feet as well as a nasty scar in the crook of Frown's right shoulder. He winced at the sight.

"I tried to stab the Queen to catch her off guard but it didn't fool her and she used my own dagger to stab my left foot. Then she interrogated me about information regarding Teran and when I wouldn't budge she stabbed my other foot with her high-heeled shoes. Then I made a sarcastic remark of some kind and then she pulled out a special dagger and sliced me with that. I nearly died since my body had never experienced that sort of hell before."

Cutter's face surreptiously turned from cross to shocked at the end of Frown's short story.

"That's sick... just sick! She stabbed you with her shoes?!?"

"Those heels were like spikes man."

Cutter glanced back at himself in partial disbelief.

"Well, the important thing is that you're alive and you'll be fine for now. Here, I'll help you onto the bed."

Cutter retracted all his blades and saws on his artificial left arm until it became no more than a metal rod. Mustering all his strength, he hoisted Frown off the ground over his shoulder, giving a barely audible grunt doing so. Gingerly moving to the end of the room, he placed Frown slowly onto the barren cot that came out of the wall.

"You need that more than I do. I can just sleep on the floor. You still want to talk about stuff?"

"Sure; anything to pass the time. You're probably the only one here in this palace that doesn't want my head," replied Frown.

"So," started Cutter, "maybe you could help tell me about what that man was referring to Straked and when he mentioned the 'northern front'. It might help us get out of this debacle."
