Is the music in the Japanese version different from the music in the English version?

Some of the songs were remixed, but I'm not sure which ones. And there are no more character themes in the American version...

I've heard that if you replace a Melee song, it'll be quieter than normal. I don't know for sure because I haven't replaced any of them. But that could be your problem.

The music in the English and Japanese version of TvC: Ultimate All Stars is the same except for the Training Stage song, which has rap lyrics in the Japanese version.

The music is entirely different between TvC:UAC and TvC: Cross Generation of Heroes.

Edit: I didn't realize that, Vyse. I'm going to check. But the songs I'm replacing are on Brawl stages, so...

Edit 2: I think you're right. At the very least, Battlefield (Melee) plays quieter.

I'm not sure about this, but I know for a fact that any songs played on Big Blue are really quiet no matter what.

Remastered. Definitely remastered. I only did one track before I dropped out of the brstm making scene and that was MMZ4's final battle. I seem to have a habit for specifically making brstms of songs that no one cares about at all.
