SWF is proud to reintroduce the Smash Lab.

Originally launched some time ago with some lofty goals of providing a wealth of data and resources to the smash community the Smash Lab has been a project that has been slow to come to fruition. However, with a rededicated leader and team of “Smash Researchers” we expect the group will start to live up to its promise.

Some of the goals we hope to fulfill through the Smash Lab:

- Compiling and making public "official" frame data we find for characters
- Discovering new techniques
- Gathering "official" numbers and data for a wide variety of things such as character weight or length of glide tosses.
- Coining "official" names for ATs we've discovered
- Learning more about the game wherever and whenever possible (i.e. researching reasons for why some DI work better than others, figuring out why some ATs work although we have no idea, etc.)

And more.

rPSI will be spearheading the Smash Lab revitalization. With plans to organize and structure the Smash Lab to make it meet the aforementioned goals.
In addition, considering increased transparency of high importance the Smash Lab plans to keep almost all of our data public so the smash community will have the opportunity to see that data we collect, as it is collected. We will work our hardest to make sure that the information is available to all.

In order for the Smash Lab to succeed, we need to be able to collect and compile the data. It takes a lot dedication but the end result of being able to make a lasting contribution to the community (as well as have access to the very cool sky blue “Smash Researcher” usergroup) makes it worthwhile. We feel we have a strong team that can accomplish these goals but are always looking for additional dedicated and responsible people that want to contribute.

If you are interested in potentially becoming part of the team check out this thread here:

Some projects that the Smash Lab is working and will work on include:
  • Smash Lab Terms List
  • Accurate Frame Data for each attack
  • Advanced Technique Data
  • Hitbubble and -Hurtbubble Hacks
  • Stage Data
  • And much more
In the coming weeks you can look to start to see individual official Smash Lab stickies in all of the Brawl Character Forums with a slew of data and an Official Smash Lab sticky in the Brawl Tactical room with all the latest data and findings.

Hopefully everyone digs the data and we are excited to be bringing you some of the most comphrehensive and accurate smash data you will find anywhere.
