In an effort to grow the site and smash community at large we are rolling out our ambassador program. A way for those people that buy into the idea we have a pretty darn cool community that deserves to grow to take an active role in making that happen.

While the hope is this program grows and evolves over time, initial launch details are as follows.

The Ambassador Program

Goal- To support and grow regional and national smash and smashboards communities.

Timeline:
Application deadline: next Thursday (12/8/11)
Application Review and Admittance: following Monday (12/12/11)

3 Components

1. An ambassador would work towards helping publicize some of their premier regional events by sending out press releases to local media. And then communicating, corresponding, and coordinating with those individuals, setting them up with interviews and so on. You would help to get exposure to these events.

2. An ambassador would reach out to local and regional business trying to drum up support in the form of giveaways, prizes, gift cards, and full on sponsorships for their regional events as well as try to maintain relationships with these business and provide value back.

3. An ambassador would work with local and regional conventions trying to pitch the idea of smashboards running a tournament for them on the whole premise that people at large love smash and its accessibility, that we run great tournaments, and can offer exposure via a robust online community. Its something that really can add value to their events and drive people to our community. Its very much a win win. (FYI: its something Mic128 and others have already had success in presenting.)

Being an Ambassador:

-Access to an Ambassador only forum with some pre-drafted materials (IE Stastical breakdowns of how big the scene is, concise letters for sponsors or media, etc)
-Smashboards email account (so you look all special and official when corresponding)
-Custom "Ambassador" Usergroup (im thinking white for the color)
-Moderation influence over your regional forum and tournaments
-Input into what tournaments receive stickies
-And hopefully access to some minor funding should it go to a great effort

What is expected:

Dedicated, active, and responsible people. If we set meetings you show, if there is a great tournament in your region you do everything in your power to get media and local sponsors there. Much of this position is about people skills, pounding the pavement, and taking action. The great thing is as time goes on you will have established relationships and instead of cold contacting people you are reaching out as someone you have worked with before. And thats one of those things the really continues to build upon itself.

Application Process:

Keeping it simple. Tell me why you want the position, your background within the community, and why you would be great for it via pm.
