Forum Awards 2006

SWF is gearing up to hold its annual Forum Awards, honoring the best of Smash World Forums from the past year. As usual, voting will consist of a nomination round, followed by the final voting round. First, here are this year's categories:

I. Member Awards (16) (any registered member)

1. Forum Monkey - a forum monkey is someone goofy who is on all the time, loves to have fun, and is funny
2. Best Signature - Self Explanatory
3. Best Forum Name - Person with the best forum username (coolest, most creative, etc....)
4. Best Location - Self Explanatory
5. Most Respected n00b - best/most respected new member
6. Most Improved - Person who has improved the most as a poster (from 2005-2006)
7. Friendliest Member - Self Explanatory
8. Most Intelligent - Self Explanatory
9. Resident Asshat - member most likely to lash out at you for looking at them the wrong way
10. Dr. Smash - knows everything about Smash
11. Smash Practicioner - Smasher who has most influenced the metagame/Smash scene
12. Host with the Most - host who has done the most for the tournament scene
    
13. Master Debater - Self Explanatory
14. Best Artist - most skilled in the visual arts (includes traditional and computer art)
15. Best Writer - most skilled in the literary arts (includes stories, poems, ASCII art (not really))
16. Jack of All Trades - most diverse member, involved in the most different areas of the forum

II. Moderator Awards (3) (any forum leader: moderator, super moderator, senator, administrator)

1. Sexiest Mod - ya... check this topic for comparisons
2. Most Gregarious - The most sociable forum leader: this person is easy to talk to and is approachable; he/she is very people-oriented and deals well with people over AIM etc...
3. Most Omnipresent - The forum leader who always seems to be around and doing his/her job

III. Room/Category Awards (3)

1. Favorite Hangout - Your favorite room to chill at SWF
2. Most Notorious for Spam - The room that's... full of spam
3. Favorite Category - the category that contains most of your favorite rooms

IV. Special Awards (1)

1. Prestigious Award - Voted on by the Forum Leader crew, this person has been an excellent poster and helper at SWF. He/she is very dedicated and is constantly offering his/her services to better SWF. This person must be agreeable and has given up a lot of their spare time to help Smash World. Previous winners include McFox, Zootematix, Giygas, and Amorasaki.

In the next day or two the nomination booth will open and you'll be able to submit your nominations for who you'd like to win each award. A couple weeks later, nominations will close, and the top three votegetters in each category (more if there are ties) will move on to the final voting round. We'll then open up the voting booth one more time, where you'll be able to vote for who of the nominees you want to win in each category.

Seems fairly simple, no? One more thing you should keep in mind: you can only nominate yourself for one award, so think carefully before you do it.

When nominations start I'll make a post here and give you the link to the voting page. In the meantime, think about who you might want to nominate for each award--some mods will be vying for your attention here, so perhaps you'd like to start there.
