Prologue: The God of Destruction

Prologue: The God of Destruction

"In the land of the heroic, only the villainous will try for the crown."

Those are the first words we hear as the screen fades into a modern-looking city. It's nighttime, and the city is filled with several attractions and places of significance. This includes a gorgeous yet massive beach, an amusement park, a casino, and a large government building where affairs clearly too important for the populace to take part in are held. The citizens are casually walking about, not doing anything in particular other than having a good time. This is none other than Station Square. The camera pans up so that we see the rooftops of the several buildings in the city. Suddenly a blue object appears in the distance, hopping from rooftop to rooftop. It finally skids to a stop on the rooftop in front of the camera, revealing it to be none other than SONIC.

Sonic smiles and pumps his fist in the air. "Now this is happenin'!" He exclaims. "A tad boring though...it would be nice if there was something going on, something that would give me a reason to put my speed to good use." As if on cue, the sound of a car crash is heard from down below, followed by several screams. "Hm?" Sonic walks to the edge of the rooftop and looks down, where the citizens are all running and screaming like chickens with their heads cut off. Looking now at where they are all running from, Sonic sighs. "City Hall?" Suddenly he leaps off of the rooftop with suprising grace, landing softly on the street amidst the pandemonium. "I wonder what's up," he says before dashing off towards City Hall, the apparent source of this chaos.

Level 0: Station Square

Characters: Sonic
Stock: 1
Objective: Get to City Hall
Music: Sonic Adventure: Station Square

Being the first level of the game, it's pretty straight forward. There are no enemies, but there are citizens that will be running about, as well as an occasional onslaught of people that will periodically charge at you. If you are hit by this mob, you will be stampeded over and take a hefty amount of damage, forcing you to either jump over or spin dash through the crowd. Attacking any fleeing citizens that are by themselves will cause them to disappear. There's no penalty for this, but it would be rather uncharacteristic of Sonic, wouldn't it?

Upon beating the level, the camera fades to the entrance to City Hall, as well as the building itself. Those who played Sonic Adventure will recognize this as the place where Sonic fought Chaos 0 so long ago. The camera zooms towards the doors leading into City Hall, when suddenly they swing open and an Eastern European man walks out, obviously disgruntled. NIKO BELLIC

"This is bull*beep*!" He yells, obviously upset. "They took one look at me and decide I'm no good for them. I come here hoping to find a purpose after Liberty City disappoint and I deal with Darko, and what do I get? Nothing!" He punches the nearest lamp post out of frustration, only to reel back in pain. The City Hall building starts to shake as bits and pieces of it fall off. Niko sees this and hightails it, when suddenly the entire building explodes, sending chunks of it everywhere. As the dust settles, Niko gets to his feet, swearing in Slavic, and turns to look at the destruction. From amidst the rubble rises a creature of some sort. The only distinguishable thing about it are its bright yellow eyes. It makes its way towards Niko, who is too confused to make any logical judgment. Suddenly the creature leaps up, nowhere to be seen. Niko takes a step back and eyes the area, looking for any sign of the creature when a drop of water lands on his shoulder. He looks up and sees two big blue hands rocketing at him. He rolls to the side as the hands-and the creature-slam against the ground. "What now?" Niko yells. It is a water-like being with somewhat spidery limbs. CHAOS 0

Niko pulls out his pistol and aims it at Chaos, who simply stands there. However, before either of them can do anything, Sonic appears and dashes toward Niko. "Stop!" Sonic yells as he makes it to the pair. "Your weapons won't touch it? Let me handle this!" He then turns to Chaos 0. "Chaos, what's this about? Why are you here? What's happened?" Chaos responds by launching a Chaos Ball at Sonic, forcing him to dodge.

Niko is even more confused now. "Wait, you spoke? But you're a *beep*ing animal! What is this?" Sonic ignores him and faces Chaos once again, realizing words will do him no good here.

Brawl:
Sonic vs Chaos 0
Stock: 2
Music: Sonic Adventure: Chaos 0/2/4 Battle

The classic fight from Sonic Adventure, translated into Smash Brothers. No fancy gimmicks, just a straight up 1vs1 match.

Chaos is knocked out on the ground, Sonic is kneeling and breathing heavy. Niko approaches Sonic and asks, "You want to tell me what all this is about, and how you can talk?"

Sonic, obviously not in the mood for these questions, answers anyway. "I just can talk...don't ask why." He then points to Chaos and says, "That's Chaos...the God of destruction. A long time ago, this guy called Eggman released Chaos from the Master Emerald, a really powerful jewel that can control the Chaos Emeralds. When the seven Chaos Emeralds are gathered together, the results are...well, it depends on who did the gathering. Eggman hoped to give Chaos the seven emeralds so that it would destroy Station Square, and maybe the world. But with the seven emeralds, Chaos was more powerful than Eggman could handle...it destroyed Station Square and attacked Eggman, but me and my friends were able to defeat it and seal it back in the Master Emerald. Why it's back now, I can't even begin to understand."

Niko blinks, having barely interpreted all that Sonic just said. "So, basically...it's a God of destruction, and you defeated it a long time ago, and now it's back?" Sonic nods, to which Niko Bellic laughs. "Well, for a so-called god, it didn't take much for you to beat it, eh? Hahaha..." His laughter trails off as the smirk on his face turns to a look of fear. Sonic, having finally caught his breath, gets to his feet and sees what Niko has seen-Chaos' body, shaking violently on the ground as if it were having a seizure. "You know what this is?" Niko whispers to Sonic, who shakes his head, too afraid to speak.

Suddenly Chaos lunges forward, now clearly alive, and tackles Sonic. Niko hops back in shock as Chaos and Sonic struggle on the ground, although its clear that Chaos is winning. Niko takes aim at Chaos, but he is hesitant to shoot, as he fears he might hit Sonic. Chaos gets on top of Sonic and starts smacking him across the face with his giant arms. Sonic punches Chaos in the stomach area, but his fist just goes right through it. Quickly he curls into a ball and spin dashes right through Chaos, however before he can land Chaos pieces itself together and grabs Sonic in midair, slamming him back on the ground. The God of destruction runs towards Sonic while keeping its grip intact and stomps its foot on Sonic's chest as he continues to struggle, although that last hit clearly knocked the wind out of him.

Niko decides he's had enough of this and fires three times at Chaos. The bullets lodge themselves in Chaos' body, and remain there for about five seconds before falling out, clearly having no effect. Chaos ignores this and bashes its head against Sonic's, finally knocking the hedgehog unconcious. Niko darts at Chaos, this time with a bat in hand, but Chaos merely swipes him aside. Then...Chaos actually sticks its head inside Sonic's mouth, causing Sonic to shake just like Chaos did before. Chaos' head is followed by its entire body as Sonic is engulfed by a bright white light. Niko is blinded by the light and is forced to look away. As the light fades, he gets to his feet and turns to see what has happened. Where Sonic's body with Chaos inside once was, a new creature stands this. It looks awfully similar to Chaos, but...different. Just the sight of the creature gives Niko chills. It stares at Niko, who swaps the bat for his carbine rifle, swearing in Slavic once again.

BOSS - Chaos Sonic

Characters: Niko Bellic
Stock: 4
Music: Pokemon Platinum: Giratina Battle

Health - 300
The stage is the same as the previous battle, a walk-off platform the size of Final Destination, the destroyed City Hall in the background. Chaos Sonic is about a head taller than Ganondorf and as wide as Zero Suit Samus. As you can see in the picture, Chaos Sonic's has no real feet, as its legs become part of the water surrounding it. Chaos Sonic needs water on the ground to move-if a certain part of the stage is dry, Chaos Sonic will be unable to go there, but most of its attacks will end up spawning a various amount of water somewhere on the stage. When the battle starts the amount of water on the stage is 1.5 times the size of a Battlefield platform, situated right beneath Chaos Sonic. It moves about by running in a manner similar to how Shadow runs, or it can jump from one puddle to another. Also, bullets may not have been able to harm Chaos 0, but Chaos Sonic is just as vulnerable to them as to any other attack; a side effect of being part mortal, I presume.

Attacks

1) Chaos Puddle - Chaos Sonic sticks its hands in the water beneath it and then launches them forward, sending a ball of water the size of Mario's Fireballs forward. The ball travels a random amount of distance and creates a puddle half the size of a Battlefield platform. Contact with the puddle deals no damage to Niko; this is merely Chaos Sonic's most efficient way of spawning water.

2) Chaos Swipe - Chaos Sonic extends its arm forward-distance equal to half the stage-and swipes at Niko. This attack has two different hitboxes: the actual claw deals 15% and average knockback, while the rest of the arm deals 12% and poor knockback, but the only way Niko can be hit by the larger part of the arm is if he jumps over the claw itself and lands on the arm.

3) Megaton Ball - Chaos Sonic sticks its arm into its body and pulls out a ball of water the size of Samus' fully charged Charge Shot. It then lobs the ball at Niko as seen here. The ball deals 14% and average knockback, but the real danger is that whether or not it hits Niko, it creates a puddle the size of two Battlefield platforms, giving Chaos Sonic that much more maneuverability.

4) Homing Chaos - Chaos Sonic hops out of the water and curls into a ball, hovering in the air. After one second it charges at Niko, dealing 18% damage and above average knockback. If it misses, it bounces off the ground and charges at the nearest puddle. This is one of Chaos Sonic's stronger attacks, but it's also rather easy to dodge seeing how telegraphed it is. Chaos Sonic is also vulnerable while in ball form, making this a prime opportunity to get some damage in.

Attacks added at 50% Health

5) Hydro Pump - Chaos Sonic dives into the water beneath it and sucks up a random amount of water, from half the size to 1.5 times the size of a Battlefield platform. It then rises from the puddle and spits a stream of water at Niko. The stream deals no damage but does deal an incredible amount of knockback, enough to push Niko across half the stage-and into the KO zone if he's positioned correctly. The length of the attack is proportionate to the amount of water Chaos Sonic takes in, ranging from three to seven seconds. The only way to avoid the stream is by keeping in the air long enough. On the bright side, this is the only way to remove water from the stage.

6) Chaos Geyser - Chaos Sonic sinks into the water beneath it, and if Niko is standing in a body of water, then a pillar of water rises from beneath him and shoots him upward. This deals 20% and a lot of vertical knockback, enough to star KO Niko if he has over 70% damage. The pillar itself rises about as tall as two Bowsers, and lasts This is Chaos Sonic's strongest attack, but can be consistently avoided with a little ingenuity. To differentiate this attack from Hydro Pump, know to watch the water surrounding Chaos Sonic right before it sinks into said water.

Attacks added at 25% Health

7) Chaos Hurricane - Chaos Sonic raises its arms above its head and begins spinning in place, sending a flurry of Chaos Balls into the air, higher than the stage itself. About two seconds after this begins the balls begin falling back to earth. There are about 30 balls total, and each ball is the size of Kirby. Contact with one deals 11% and weak knockback. Each ball that doesn't hit Niko splashes on the ground and creates a puddle of water half the size of a Battlefield platform. The attack lasts roughly ten seconds, and Chaos Sonic is vulnerable the entire time, although it'd be difficult to take the offensive without taking a hit as well.

Chaos Sonic is seen flying back as it falls to its knees, holding its head in pain. Niko, despite being tired as all hell, approaches the being before him and aims his rifle at its head. "Give me back the talking hedgehog, you beast. If a God like you really does exist, then you should be putting your powers to better use instead of causing all this...well, all this destruction." However, Chaos Sonic does not appear to even recognize Niko's words. It returns to its "feet" and grabs a now-scared Niko by the throat. However, just before it can finish him off, a light shines down on the pair. It's a G.U.N. chopper! Niko and Chaos Sonic are suddenly both surrounded by G.U.N. troops and machines alike. Chaos Sonic drops Niko and disappears, having slipped into a drain beneath it. Niko peers into the drain and yells, "Hey you big drip! Where you-" He stops suddenly having been hit by a tranquilizer. The last thing Niko sees before he passes out are G.U.N. troops, rushing right for him with their guns aimed at him.

The scene fades to a meadow, with a single tree in the middle. Although there is no one to be seen, a voice begins to speak. It is similar to the voice heard at the beginning of the chapter, but much deeper.

"Chaos...that's what you may claim to be, but I know the truth. I see through your facade, you beast. I remember all that you have done, all that you are guilty for. When you dared of entering this land. Our land...the land of those who gave their life so that those who were dear to us would live on and prosper! The land of those who knew nothing of sin! Nothing of envy, nothing of wrath, greed, pride, lust, gluttony, or sloth! The very things your kind thrives off of...but you are too late. I can feel them coming. The ones who are destined to rid the world of parasites such as yourself. Even the heavens have been corrupted by that which is evil, and it will take true heroes to restore peace to this world and to theirs! A true hero, like I once was, before my mortal enemy gave in to his sins. By losing his last bit of humanity, he became more powerful than ever before, and I had no choice but to sacrifice myself so that my loved ones could live a life without fear. Do you understand me now? Do you see where I've come from? I will make you feel my pain. This, I swear to you, or my name is not Kronos."

After this speech, the screen fades to black, and the title Elysium appears on the screen.

This is very cool. I could go on all day about the level of awesome in the boss battle and dialogue. If I have to make a complaint it's that you could be setting yourself up for a generic fetch quest story, but you still did a great job. You may have inspired me to make a story mode of my own someday. :bee:

Pretty cool.

You did a great job redeeming Niko after that MYM5 set. It was quite cool to see him in the middle of station-square with Sonic.

The plot was pretty interesting despite only being the prologue. It seems like the homunculous from FMA are gonna make an appearance judging by the ending speech. I have no idea who Kronos is, but that's why I'll just have to read on, lol.

Overall, great stuff. You have a good writing style and the story has begun on an interesting note. I'm happy to see that Story Modes are still alive in MYM6.

I like the dialouge and the boss, so on. I can't wait to see what you come up with next. It seems judging by the last line (Im not copying what HR said) that a bunch of heroes will gather up to fight evil, but I will have to see what you come up with.

Looks like a pretty good SM so far.

You need to include Generic Character in the next chapter, though
