If this is known, sorry. CBA searching.
Wasn't in:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=42749
(Then again, neither was Jump Canceled Throws (which exist <3)

It can only be done with roll --> A

It can only be thrown in one direction (from my testing) which is "forward

Okay.. Done testing.

I'll start out with all the characters that don't have a forward or backward glide toss:

Bowser
Yoshi - Though he still throws it,I don't know if he could in Brawl
Falco
Fox
Kirby
Sheik
Link
Young Link
Jigglypuff

These are the characters that have a Forward glide toss only:

Peach - Mid range
DK - Mid range
Ness - Low range
Ice Climbers - Mid range + They Desynch
Marth - Mid range
Roy - Mid range

Characters with Forward and Backwards Glide tosses

Doc - Mid range for forward - Backward is Low range
Mario - Mid range for forward - Backward is Low range
Luigi - Mid range for both
Falcon - Forward is High range - Backward is Low range
Ganon - Mid range for forward - Backward is nearly non-existant
Samus - Mid range for both, one of the best
Peach - Mid range for forward - Backward is nearly non-existant
Zelda - Low range for forward - Backward is nearly non-existant
Pichu - It's like Diddy's, but with Pichu range if you get my drift... It's cute though.. lol
Pikachu - Mid range for both
Mewtwo - High Range for Both - definitely the best
Mr. Game and Watch - Mid range for forward, Low range for back

Hope this helps, Susa. Glad you discovered this.

Mewtwo's is just awesome. And Falcon can easily combo/grab if he does it right. It was a lot of fun.

OMFG! Mewtwo is good at something <3 hahahaha

Doesn't seem like it'd be too useful unless you're fighting a Peach, Link, or Y. Link because they're the only ones that have projectiles that work that way. Peach's will probably like this.

Other than that, good find. I didn't think to look if this even existed, even if it was already known. =]

I've like.. never seen it in any vids. :x so I'm just assuming.....

Anyone want to test all the other character? :/ I don't feel like unlocking Mewtwo for nothing (no memory card)

PS:
Useless for Link, no idea about Y.Link, it's decent for Peach.

Does peach's glide toss go further than her wavedash? If this is the case then this is a really good find.

*goes test wavedash compared to glide toss*

I'm pretty sure it has less end lag <_< lol

EDIT:
When timed CORRECTLY, it BARELY goes further then her wavedash. Wavedashing backwards is better then her backroll (which is non-existent to begin with)

Just make sure to time it correctly.. which is sorta hard =p

Ok well I tried it out. It exists but it kind of sucks, because I just don't see how there will be any use for this. But lets wait for a good peach player to be the judge of this.

dr. mario's is decent. i'd think it'd be the same as mario's. he can glide toss both forward and back.
...he has one <_<

also, dash attack canceled item throw.

Not really sure how it's done. Just dash attack and then throw the item I'm sure? I could test that out for you too if you want.

Edit: Crap.. guess I didn't get the timing down for Doc.. I'll try him again.

I retried Doc, Mario and Luigi.

Doc's and Mario's are about the same, but the timing is hard, at least for me it was. They're about mid range for forward. Backward is Low range.

Luigi's is mid range for both forward and back.

My bad, guys.

Edit: I edited my list above also.

Link doesn't have one in Brawl either. XD

Link in Brawl... I die a little inside every time I try playing him in Brawl.

Link is the one character in the game that could literally be back-thrown off the stage at any percent and he's already in trouble. LMAO

So terrible.

Alright I re-timed all the ones that I said didn't have one, I tried many different timings, but I still got nothing for them. Anyone else testing every character out?

I couldn't get DACIT to work either...

Edit: I forgot to mention that Ice Climbers desynch during the glide toss, but you already knew that. I edited the post anyway.

try doing it w/ a battering item....

the only time it would matter is if Peach pulled a beam sword or bat, though.

edit: wait **** no.
only works w/ super scope/ray gun/etc. lmao i'm stupid, I forgot that battering items ****ed w/ the dash attack. -_-

Ahhh alright. I did it that time, but the timing is REALLY tight. I've been doing this with Peach's turnips the whole time.

Beam Swords work with it.

Edit for Susa, Peach doesn't pull bats. =P

I'm suprised I'm the first one to try it oo

EDIT:

The only "dacit" I can get is actually just a JCT Up throw
I'm surprised no one wanted to try this out before. I'm now trying to see what other Brawl things work in Melee. I just tried teleport canceling with Zelda. Didn't work though.. =[

apparently people already knew about this >_>

I found out about it playing with lovage like a month ago, it's pretty cool
then he said he found it in a peach guide from like 2004 lol

also, you can airdodge in any direction in the air, then throw a turnip
(I know this works with peach, not sure about other characters)
I think the european peach EVAL does this, but it's really small and hard to pick up on. I saw him miss and airdodge once, in the canada vs. international crew battles at genesis, and his turnip throws are pretty weird.

also I think that everybody has a "backwards glide toss"
I think that's how people throw things reverse out of shield, and the only way to do it IS with a tiny glide toss. It's just that some character's go farther than others.

I'm gonna do some testing right now.

You don't need to glide toss to throw it in reverse OoS.

And all well, I brought it back up. Never a bad thing. Right?
Nope. It was fun actually. Good job bringing it back up. And I know at least a few people who would like to try this out, so yeah.

yeah this is a pretty cool trick

marth and roy both have really good back throws
ness has a small back glide toss
so does peach, so does ice climbers
DK has a very, very small one

and airdodging then throwing is a sort of a new trick, you can change your momentum in the air slightly by airdodging up and in the opposite direction, but it's basically useless. If you play peach, then you can float the other way slightly faster after a turnip throw backwards. And jigglypuff actually gets a really nice aerial boost from it, but the only time I could see using this is vs peach/link/young link. Very situational =/, but pretty cool nonetheless.

edit: not discovered >_>

Airdodge Canceled Throwing falls under the same thing.

@not G0su
I didn't really discover this. :/ Thought about it 2 weeks ago when I bought Melee. Tried it really late at night. Woke up. Thought it was a dream. Ignored it for 2 weeks. Tried it again today. And it worked. XD

yeah I know it's the same technique (technically? lol)

does brawl have airdodge throwing? I wouldn't think so, because it's not directional, but I haven't tried it so idk

and do they matter on the length of the airdodge, or just the character's floatiness, since most airdodges are the same length
