FLYER CONTEST

**VOTE HERE**

What: Create a flyer for a smash group/fest/tournament
Deadline: March 15th, 2010
Submit to: amorasaki@smashboards.com

Details:
Flyers are great tools for bringing in local players to events and tournaments, and are awesome for building up a local community of smashers. Whether it's at your school, your workplace, or your church, an eye-catching flyer can reach new players and grow your competitive scene. There are a LOT of people out there who play smash, but who might not be aware of other nearby players.

That's why we're holding a contest, open to anyone. Consider an upcoming event or tournament, or one that you might like to see in the future, and design a small flyer/leaflet for it. Your flyer should be something that you could stick on a wall or hand out at gatherings.

Submit your design by March 15th, and we'll hold a poll to determine the top 5 entries. Each of the winners will recieve a free one-year premium membership on Smashboards.

UPDATE!
Following MLG's recent addition of Brawl to the 2010 lineup, we would love to see your flyers for an upcoming Major League Gaming event. Here's the info you can use:

* Registration for MLG Orlando Opens March 17 at 7pm ET
* Over $60,000 in season prizes. Full prize list
* The first Super Smash Bros. Brawl Online Qualifier will be for MLG Columbus, and will help players boost their seed at all live competitions. Online Qualifier registration opens on March 15, and competition begins on March 29.
Rules:
  • Accepted file formats: .bmp .jpg .pdf .png
  • Flyer formats should be no larger than standard letter size (8 1/2 x 11 inches), though they may be smaller if you choose.
  • If you don't have an actual event to create a flyer for, use this information for a fictional tournament:
    • Smashboards Tournament
    • Date: March 15th, 2010 from 12-8pm
    • Location: 123 Sweouf Drive, Internets
    • Fees: $5 Singles, $10 per team doubles
    • Prizes: 1st $100, 2nd $50, 3rd $20
  • Flyers with profanity, nudity, or illegal content will not be accepted

Tips:
  • Simple designs are often the most effective; people won't pay attention to a flyer with too much writing or too many pictures. That doesn't mean you should use a blank sheet of paper with one line of 72pt Courier font, but just don't go overboard on the design.
  • Include all the basic information - when and where to go, who to contact if necessary (and how), and anything required to attend.
  • Keep an original copy of your file! If we like your flier a lot, it may be useful in helping to promote Smash and to grow the competitive community.

As always, reply with questions or comments if you have any, and good luck!
