everyone in the game as a grab release on lucas and ness. as long as they have a move that comes out faster than 10 frames & in range a psychic dork is getting hit with some bull ****.

not everyone can re-grab after gr though (i know ganon can't, i forgot who else can't)

Me? I just learned the match-up last week...will give you more tips vs him as soon as I play him more often. I think Galeon knows the match-up? Assuming that he faced GDX more than I did X3

Lmao, ok... there's a flaw with this though... You get hit by a banana, you'll trip, and get grabbed if the Diddy rushes you (which they would most likely be buffering anyway bc diddy loves to grab). OR you shield the banana so it'll hit your shield and you're safe right? nope, diddy again will most likely rush in to grab you and it'll be buffered. SO what you need to do is sidestep the banana and then side step AGAIN right after so that you don't get grabbed. After the second sidestep i suggest Dair or Nair as our best options.

tl;dr
Thanks for the advice, but instead of don't get grabbed, change it to don't get hit by a banana. haha.

Well, how many characters are in brawl? lol. Like zman said, most characters can get SOMETHING off of a grab release on Lucas, usually a jab or tilt.

I believe our jab is frame 2 (correct me if i'm wrong) but i don't think jab will get u out of it, although it is worth a shot especially if the other person isn't buffering their move. You could also try buffering a sidestep.


EDIT: They just added Vanz to my pool. WTF.

@Kole... i thought Vanz was good, but i don't know for sure. I think he mains Peach or Jiggs, something like that. Maybe you're right though. And yeah i'm doing dubz w/ a kid from FL. His SWF account is ScaryLB59.. mains Zelda/Sheik. I don't really know if he's any good but somebody i know was supposed to team with him but can't make it so im filling in for him. Hopefully we do well.

Thanks Chrono Cross. I am pretty sure it's me and HelpR (I hear NintendoMaster is going and i think he mains Lucas, not entirely sure though).

ok guys here are some updates in regards to how im doing:

i got switched into a different pool, lol. this pool consisted of Pika Pika (Pikachu), Will (DK), Artemis (Pikachu), Kevin Magic Johnson (MK), Wispy (Marth), and Myself.

I 2-0'd Artemis, Kevin Magic Johnson, and Wispy.

I lost to Will 0-2. I lost to Pika Pika 1-2. Game 1 was close, he won. Game 2 i CP'd Halberd and he switched to mk, so i went mk as well, and i won, again it was close. Game 3 he CP'd smashville and i didn't know if i should stay mk or go Lucas, i tried my luck with mk, he then picked pikachu. I lost. :-(

I got 3rd seed and made it out of first round of pools (i believe, but it's not official from the TO's). I will do my best to post when i find out more but posting from my phone sucks. lol.

Tch, that's a shame. I heard second round of pools was REALLY tough for a lot of good players.

It seemed like most of the pools in the second round were death pools. haha.

My second pool was:
King Kong (Bowser)
Chaos Marth (MK)
Snakeee (ZSS)
Coney (D3)
Trent (Sonic)
Myself

I took trent to game 3 and lost... almost got timed out.
I got 2-0'd by everyone else. Ouch.

Although i will say against Snakee game one was BF, it was close but he won. Game 2 i CP'd him to Frigate and i stayed Lucas. He was at 158% last stock and i was around 60% last stock. I had it in the bag. I got hit off the right side of the stage (the side with no ledge). My jump was gone so i was forced to UpB, luckily the platform was down so i could reach it, however, i bounced off the wall part of the stage just as the platform was going back up and i died. I was so mad. I felt i could've taken that set.

Against King Kong i did alright Game 1 but Game 2 he, well, did Bowser stuff that Lucas doesn't like. lol.

Against the others, it was pretty basic, nothing spectacular, just got outplayed. Coney was confused at some of the mind games i had but it wasn't enough to get me a win. D*mn you Pink Fresh! haha, just playin.

Idk what i placed overall though.

Well at least you made it outa 1st pools Nasty. :) Ouch for 2nd pool though :(. Now what are you going to do?

And yeah it sucks that i didn't make it out of second round of pools. But some of the ppl in my pool were some of the top players with their respective characters, imo. Now i'm at home chunky, and i'll just keep practicing till my next tourney. I feel that i did get better this weekend and several ppl i play w/ told me they saw improvement in the past 2 weeks. Basically i'm just making smarter decisions.

@ FAE... I played Nicole's peach and she said she plays you a lot. I also met another one of your friends. I keep meeting these ppl you know.. when are we gonna cross paths? lol.

That's great Nasty. Helpful feedback or nice comments can help ya. :D Just keep on practicing and you'll be up there (no matter what anyone else says). When is your next tournament anyway?

did spectacularly awful in each thing i did

highlight of tourney was tilt locking lee martin into usmash on live stream, then proceeding to punish M2K's airdodge with an usmash

I'll get more specific tomm, tired as hell, been a long day

I can never pull off the dtilt lock. How do you do it? I've heard dair to dtilt is a way, but...yeah.

Yeah Nicole and I both live in MO, we play a decent amount. I've never beaten her though, Peach is my worst personal matchup along with Oli :/ But I think she's gotten the hang of the matchup as well. Maybe the other friend was Future, or one of my AiB friends.

Start the Dair at a high % (around 80'ish% or higher or lower depending on their weight) and when they bounce on the ground start Dtilting them. The Dtilt lock can be started by majority of Lucas's moves. They require quick reaction though (and for the opponent to not tech the ground or use an attack before they hit the ground). Jab, Ftilt, Utilt (when they DI to the ground), Fair, Bair, Footstool, PK Fire, Magnet Pull, and pushing their shield off of a platform making them bounce of the ground. Just try it out on practice mode a bit.

Also, I have a PSI Magnet Instructional that'll be uploaded in the next hour for anyone who's interested.

I also played nicole in doubles, as we were both in the same pool with M2K and lee martin (as well as meeting again in brackets. The ****?)

Lol, I'm the exact same way. There's a crazy good Peach in Florida, never faced him in tournament but I lost everytime we played friendlies. Fortunately there aren't a ton of Olimars in FL (yet :l) but he just gives me trouble when I'm Ness/Lucas. I dunno what it is about those 2 that just shuts me down completely.

Nice instructional video. That gives me an idea about something.

I'm so used to the American Brawl scene it's hard for me to comprehend some of those placements (Diddy? Bowser?)... I'm sure they have valid reasons for them though. Some of it is probably character usage popularity. Interesting how Zelda+Shiek are considered one character, which makes sense

I could die a happy man if D3 ever rose that high on the US list. Lol.

Yeah i sat down and played her and she had no idea who i was. I beat her the first game and she goes "Wow, i just lost to a Lucas, that's embarrassing." lol. We continued the set (Bo3) and she won the next two. I shoulda mm'd her but she was about to play pools. She's very legit though.

Alright so I did a little research thing that is actually kindof funny. Lucas never smiles in Brawl at all. He only does 4 times.

-When he beats Wario and he smiles for like less than a second until he realizes Ness is no where to be found
-When PT catches Ivysaur (this one and the one below have the same scene just different background)
-When PT catches Charizard
-When MK saves both Lucas and PT from almost dieing

And after that he doesn't. Goodness Lucas is such the emo child of Brawl.:laugh: If I could hack brawl I would get like an emo Lucas texture :L Still love him to death though <333
