Official Wolf Video Thread [updated 2/7 3:05am eastern]
I'm going to develop this thread as a one stop location for Advanced wolf strategies as the metagame is figured out. As soon as i get the game this thread will be the best way to finding ways to utilize Wolf's attacks and minimize his weaknesses.
Space "Wolf" vs Dmbrandon "Pit" http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kr9EoMXWEGo
Did you notice Wolf using the laser and ducking under Pits arrows to keep a healthy distance game going?
Marth(Lee) vs Wolf (Marcus) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPO02OOtMFA
Wolfs reflector doesn't slow down his decent[1:40], forward b can be used to reach and sweetspot the edge faster[2:25]
Star Wolf part of the Lylat Cruise taunt translated.
1st
Panther:a space battle, this suites me...
Leon: wolf is fighting so courageously! With those long claws, sharp teeth, a wild fighter that has forgotten about all other things. When he targets things, they will always fall.
Panther: hey leon?
Leon: I'm not praising him... no I'm not...*laugh*
2nd
Panther: you really have angered me. Prepare to die/fight.
Falco: You are so annoying...
Leon: Childish bird, Die in front of me.
Slippy: oh no! Flaco's going to die!
Falco: shut up, in a time like this you must fight till the end! Don't lay a hand on my kill.
3rd
Krystal: the stars are very beautiful
Panther: it compare to your beauty krystal
Krystal: oh panther, well said.
Panther: in all this space it was fate that we were brought together, accept these red feelings from me.
Falco: Stop sucking up. It makes me mad.
4th
leon: a blue planet... these planets are good too.
Slippy: yeah.. a planet with water is really nice. Because, we animals need water to keep our skin from becoming dry right leon?
leon: don't compare me to a frog.
Slippy: but your tongue does stretch out right?
Leon: Don'r compare me to a frog!!!
Also.
Wolf: Asobi wa owari da, Star Fox! means "Play time is over, Star Fox!"
VERY IMPORTANT- FOX TROT / PIVOT ADVANCED SKILLS WITH WOLF
This is the brawl alternative for dash dancing. You can also smash attack out of a dash.
Fox trotting is using the initial dash movement continuously to move. It is possible in Brawl.
To do so, you must wait till the end of the dashing animation, then dash again.
In Brawl, you can only do this in one direction. To change directions, you must dash dance.
Every character can dash dance, but only with the initial frames of a starting dash. Because fox trotting uses the starting dash continuously, at the beginning of each "trot", you can initiate a dash dance. You can use this dash dance to change the direction of your fox trot fluidly.
You can also cancel the initial frames of a dash(in the range of what you can dash dance) with an Up Smash, Forward Smash(both ways, shown), Forward B(both ways), Down smash, and down tilt. I'm not sure how to get a down tilt though, as it has come out randomly. Quite possibly other normals are cancelable, but the dash dance makes that impossible to hard.
You can also run one way and immediately dash attack the other way with this.
Wolf, he looks freaking ******. Him not being a clone makes him all the better(and the howl when he gets KO over the ceiling=A+). I can live with his final smash being the red Landmaster. His recovery seems decent, whatever the fux his illusion is called goes up at like a 15 degree angle, it can probably be angled down as well to get to ledges ^^ for the invicibility frames we all know and love. I think I'm going to main his howlin' a$s.
Hopefully we can get some better quality videos here soon.
Also, in case I haven't mentioned it before, I preordered Brawl and a Japanese Wii so I should be getting the game on or around Feburary 6th. I have a camcorder, a tri pod, as well as a male/female AV cable for direct recording.
So, for my fellow Wolf mates, I'll make a couple tutorial videos about his entire moveset, tuants, grabs, As, and everything. So in time we shall know all.
Okay, so after watching the Warioware level video with Wolf, I've gotta say that his side B is a lot different than people give it credit for. Looks like he sort of CROUCHES DOWN on all fours and leaps forward at a 25 degree angle. Granted it is still similar to Fox/Falco but it isn't just an angled illusion. It's a totally new animation as far as I can tell.
Wolf is a great addition to the roster. He was not a character I wanted in, but now that I see him im convinced I'm going to enjoy his presence. I look forward to trying him out.
I still don't see what's so wrong about characters being variation characters. Wolf/Fox/Falco all have been changed enough to not play the same. A lot of "unique" characters share moves with each other. Like Samus/Falcon having the same up-tilt in Melee. Or that Toon Link, ZSS, Sheik, and G&W all have the same d-air (different animations, but they all suck them down the same way).
Hmm...this thread has made me feel a bit better. But for some reason he still seems like a bit more than a Luigi-fied clone of Fox. I think his Final Smash is the most disappointing part.
I definitely think the Land Wolfen is the most dissappointing aspect of his character... other than that, I'm pretty **** happy. Wolf looks to be amazing. Definitely unique, I'd say.
So falco's moves look more similar, so what, fact is, there are no real clones in brawl...
characters with similar movesets, yes, but they aren't clones in the sense Dr. Mario and Pichu
were...
