Soul Calibur IV

Hey, I know there's thousands of you here on SWF that enjoy the "Soul Calibur" series.

Soul Calibur IV is coming out tomorrow, and I thought it would be best if I posted a thread in dealing with finding other Soul Calibur players to, well, play with. There are two versions of the game, one for PS3 & XBOX360, so I will post two sections for both.

Alright, I understand how the "playing with friends" works now.
I'm glad to see a PS3 player, too.

I added all of you, and plan to get my ID up tonight, as it's my brother's PS3.

Also, I want, if possible, to record some matches of yourselves, that way a player can click on your name and see how good you are, so they can find evenly matched, well, matches.

Do you think that's okay?

Put me down as "yes" for the voice. Although I may not use it every time.

Also, about recording ourselves... I've never done anything like that and I'm not sure that I have the means necessary to do such a thing. Maybe we could get people who have capture cards or recorders to help out and film others? Idk, this is just a suggestion...

I could've sworn there was already a thread for Soulcalibur IV. Maybe you could post these in the Smashboards online thread? I don't know if keeping track of PSN IDs and Gamertags for a certain game's community would be worth its own thread, since a quite a few of those have been closed.

The purpose of this thread is also for competition, and that thread is just announcing it. I also searched and did not find any thread pertaining to SC4. I'm aware of SmashBoards online, but this is a much easier way to keep ALL SC players enlightened on tournaments, etc. This isn't just for exchanging IDs.

I knew someone would just bash this, but I'm glad you didn't and tried to help. Thanks.

Well, I'm picking this game up tommorow. This is going to be my first attempt at trying to get good at a traditional fighter (although I've played other fighters such as SC2 and DOA on Xbox, that was like 5-6 years ago, so I was very young). This game just looked too good to pass up.

I'd expect Yoda to be better overall, as he'd be alot faster. (I think)

Darth is horrible to connect with. He's some-what slow and he is easily juggled.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but... Yoda was a bit overhyped.

1) Some (if not most) of his attacks are slow.
2) His only source of movement is jumping
-which leads to #3....

3) HE CAN GET RUNG OUT TOO EASILY

...of course I only played with him for a little bit so...I dunno...just 1st impressions I guess.

No, your first impressions are correct, both Yoda and Vader have several weaknesses.

I was disappointed with Yoda.
His jumping around is annoying to maneuver with.

The character customization hasn't really changed since SC III.
Talim is still amazin'.

Algol is -very- interesting, I'm considering getting good with him.
Although I haven't played with him yet, hopefully

Darth Vader's Apprentice proves to be the lightsaber user we're all looking for.

Although I truly would like the Darth Vader/PS3 version a lot more, my roommate has an Xbox and I really wanna play this game...

I honestly don't care if Vader is slow I would still main him, but its not that big of a deal which version I own I'll just learn to play Vader later...

Yeah I'm not sure as to whether this is really a sopiler or not because he did appear in a pre-release trailer.
So I don't think you really need to bother with the spoiler tags.

Just throwing it out there, but Yoda and Darth Vader are in both versions of the game, just locked. DLC will probably unlock the characters.

Had Kratos been in the game, I would have picked it up. God of War was phenomenal.

Yoda is supposed to be COMPLETELY BROKEN. >.> As in, you cannot grab him at all. Not even Yoda can grab Yoda. Darth might not be the best character ever, but it seems like he functions on a technical level and is better than the Apprentice.

I own the game, and Yoda is pretty easy to beat. He can't be grabbed, but all he does is jump around, so you can hit him with almost every attack. He's also a pretty slow attacker and so he's pretty easy to hit. Also, he sometimes just jumps off the stage all of a sudden. So, yeah, not broken, but he is really really good against CPUs for whatever reason.
