pretty good. this matchup is so ******** though, and he didnt even abuse utilt as much as he could.
you missed some banana follow up opportunities. snake has a decent trip animation so dont give up even if you dont react immediatly. also refine basic combos like banana dash attack usmash\aerial, its such a shame to score a good banana and not deal all the damage you can

Yea he missed all those up tilts because he was trying to pressure me into rolling into them.

As far as the basic generic Diddy banana combos go I agree with you, I did miss a lot of opportunities to punish with them but thats only because they were warm up matches. My hands were still a little rusty. Johnny John Johns LoLz.

Well there is a tourny today so I'm going to warm up and then record some vids there to show you guys what a real technical and speedy Diddy looks like lolz. Theres about 65 people minimum going to this but I should get top 10. Not sure but we'll see.

Oh yea, I also have invented a lot of strategies and new Diddy techs, like a very very easy and practical way to get the opponent in the BCC grab every time, and some other cool stuff. But. I gotta admit the only reason I haven't put them up is because of laziness (Ninjalink John LoLz) But I'ma try to break out that habit and keep you guys updated.

pretty good. follow up on bananas instead of just locking off the stage. if he is holding jab to catch a banana, try faking him with an aerial or smash while holding banana, dthrow to smash/aerial, or approach from above. i liked your cypher catch.

Snake is one of the characters that I have to slow down to play so I can see all the stuff that he is doing, besides its really hard to play Lambchops Snake aggressively. Besides him and Afro I pretty much **** every other Snake here on beast mode LoLz. But yea as soon as I learn the match up better then ill get more aggressive against Snake. And I listen to my own ipod when I play, smash music is for n00bs jk jk

Thanks, but he was jabbing to put pressure on me so i wouldn't roll, but you are right about the whole banana locking off stage thing. Im just gonna John and say that I was warming up LoLz. Its true though, thats why sometimes I would just stand still looking confused during the match.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude I completely forgot about the glide toss to kung fu kick to counter people who like to catch bananas !!! Thanks ill try to remember that next time. But dash attack up smash almost never works against really good players like Lambchops. They have enough experience to know not to get caught by that, besides he does have better options. But thanks.



At the tourny today I had to play arguably the best Pit Player in the nation Danny. He is currently ranked as like 4th on our power rankings list. I didn't get any videos because there was only enough memory to record for the finals and stuff. But there is two more tournies that I will be attending this weekend. This time I'm going to make sure to get up vids of me vs the best in the state.

Nope Im deffinitely the the most technical Diddy player and one of the smartest, at least in comparison to what I have seen in other vids. Dont judge off these vids I just put them up because I wanted to copy you and others in making my own thread and they were the only vids I had of myself to put up.

Im at the best player in Floridas house right now recording some training matches ill put them up as soon as I can so you can see some recent matches

And your a beast!! Especially for beating M2K MK in a tourny set.

i met advent at that tourney. hes a cool guy. He just needs some matchup practice and i think he'll be fine. I do think hes underestimating the difficulty of consistently winning tourneys with diddy. It doesnt help him that i've been playing all of the regular tourney goers in FL through tourney sets for the past 4 months, so they are more used to diddy overall than other states may be. That snake that he fought (Lambchops) is really good. Probably one of the smartest smashers in the state. Ive only beaten him in 1 tourney set out of 3 total

he could surpass me as the best diddy in FL. which isnt hard, cause word on the street is that im the worst diddy ever

Yea I saw your thread, and in my opinion your the best Diddy player as of right now.

Im going to play at a lan center today and somone is bringing a recorder, so I'm just going to hog and **** a tv and get all the matches recorded. I wanna get some vids up asap so I can have some content on the boards.

Just watched the Dedede vids, and I've got to say, you play a mean Diddy. I think that there are only a couple of things that you need to work on, really (from what I can see). Firstly, I'd try grouping your bananas a little more; there was a period of time at the start of the second video where Dedede had control of both your bananas, which obviously killed your momentum quite a bit. It seemed like this happened because you got into the habit of doing retreating down b's across the stage, which spaced out your bananas quite a bit, and made it easy for him to grab at least one. Grouping your bananas would also have helped you in avoiding his chain grabs; if you have both your bananas right in front of you and glide toss one forward to approach, you'll still have one banana right behind you which will stop the chain grab if he stuffs your approach, and will open up throw combo opportunities if the throw banana connects (back throw to the second banana, Dedede trips, dash attack -> upsmash, etc).

Secondly, you didn't seem to be chasing offstage much. You had a couple of great rocketbarrel spikes, but they were close to the stage and seemed like they were almost incidental to your recovery. Diddy's fair definitely rivals Dedede's bair in terms of speed and range (IIRC, correct me if I'm wrong); this, coupled with Dedede's awful horizontal air speed and huge hurtbox, means that you should try to harrass his recovery a little more. If Dedede has to use his up b to recover, he should at least be taking some damage, if not getting knocked back off the stage. For Diddy, it's fairly easy to force his up b and then punish if you use the peanut gun, since it'll kill what little aerial speed Dedede can muster in the first place. Diddy has so much potential in his offstage game, it's a shame to not follow off the ledge with him; you definitely could have won the first match if you had chased offstage instead up up b-ing onstage.

That all being said, you are definitely a great player. Great use of bairs for spacing in the first vid, good onstage harrasment with the popgun in both, and I actually laughed out loud when you shut down Dedede's waddle dee toss with an upthrown banana in the second video. One thing I'd have liked to have seen more of is Diddy's down tilt, but I say that about every Diddy I see - no one seems to use it. I don't think that you really had trouble saving your kill moves at all, really; in the first vid, it just seemed like you were having trouble connecting with your down smash, as opposed to hitting with it too much. Anyways, that's my opinion; I have no idea whether or not it'll be helpful, as you're obviously a better Diddy player than me!

The things I see you need work on is edgeguarding instead of pulling out more bananas. You can't sacrifice diddy's amazing edgeguarding ability for bananas all the time. You had a good retreating popgun tactic, but some offensive popgun doesn't hurt either. Also it looks like your opponent either caught on to your strategy and learned to avoid it, or your smashes diminished (I forgot exactly but it has to be one of these two), either way you have a predictable style of play, yet it still works even though they do predict it. Other people could counter this pretty easily and switching up your style wouldn't hurt either

Well u already kno what i have to say advent but wanted to say ur gettin there but u have to be faster and more pressuring to the opponent. U also have to kno how to Dribble dance and the mixup between it without havin to look at ur char to do it so u can pay attention to ur opponent.

This is what i mean about pressure. I have total control of the stage. If ur constantly moving ur opponent wont have a clue what ur goin to do. If ur goin for the patient approach then go ahead but kno when to do it or not depending on matchup. Imagine this pressure on Dedede? He cant catch u. Since its peach u cant go all crazy at times because the peach is probably gonna go aggressive so u have to mix in patience in there. Just helping out :-P

And when NL says 'play faster' don't take offense to it, cause well, everybody in brawl plays slow compared to NL ^_^.

what are u talking about every one is slow in brawl compared NL i was in the trade n play tournament i battled a Diddy that was crazy i think his name was Jesus and he was fast as hell but i was Falco so i guess i had the advantage

This was the first Dedede I have ever played, and it just so happens to be the best one in town lolz, so I literally had to learn the match up as I played. As a matter of fact I'm a Melee player and new to this game so I really dont know that many character match ups in Brawl at all. But usually I'm very fast and aggressive on my opponents, I decided to take these matches slower because it was a better player and I wanted to learn the match up as I play.

And oh yea NinjaLink I can dribble and actively use it to space, mind game, and position myself and bananas better. I didn't do it that much against him because he is good at punishing me for leaving a banana on the ground. But I do completely agree with you on the whole confusing your opponent with speed and positioning thing. Your a really good player, and I'm gonna try your advice the next tourny I go to.

I got 5th today at the Play n Trade tourny. I lost to the 2 best MK in Fl. I really need to learn that match up, but as of right now MetaKnight is my worst match up. I know its sad...

Huh, it seemed like you just couldn't get your banana game going at the start of that vid. Every time you pulled one out, the platform screwed you over and you ended up getting chain grabbed. I think it might have helped a little if you went on the defensive for a little bit, and camped Dedede with the popgun until you could get a banana fortress up. You didn't have any bananas out, but you still kind of rushed him, which got you grabbed. Good match though, and an awesome comeback (almost) on your part.

And yea NinjaLink your style is really good. But yea you know I was just trying to play slow against his Dedede, but Ima get some matches up of my beastly Diddy and show you what I can do against an average player I was playing at a Lan Center with a lot of GOOD competition and a lot of people were impressed with me. Especially since I'm new to brawl (I'm a Melee Player, well not anymore LoLz) Any ways a few people called me the NinjaLink of Florida aka NinjaLee. I dont really like the name, Lee is fine by itself but I still took it as a compliment. Your style *****, but I always played like that so0o... ITS MY STYLE ******!! LoLz

Other than that I figured out all of the Diddy advanced techs on my own long before they were on the boards. I was just too lazy to put them up myself. I still havent seen anyone but myself utilize the revers peanut gun cancel in a real match but me. That and so much more. But yea I give you credit on a lot of stuff, and as of right now your my favorite Diddy player, and you dont even main him. LoLz.

And you still gotta help me with the match up vs MetaKnight. Its my worst match up but dont get me wrong I dont lose to random MK's but the really good ones are hard to beat. Ima post up some vids of me getting wrecked by one when I can
