Melee Rules:
- Items: Off
- 4 stock, 8-minute timer
- Best out of 3, with finals best out of 5
- Advanced Slob Picks (after each game of a set):
-------1. Loser picks stage or can randomly select a stage
-------2. Winner picks character
-------3. Loser picks character
-Double-blind picks may be called at any time.
-Dave's Stupid Rule: You may not pick the last stage where you won in the same set.
-Iggy's Stupid Rule: You may not pause the match yourself. If you absolutely need to pause, it must be done so at the consent of your opponent.
- Stage Knock-outs: Each person knocks out one stage for the entire match (i.e., the entire best 2-out-of-3 or best 3-out-of-5). This stage must be selected at the beginning of the match, after initial characters have been chosen.
-Team Attack: On
-Life-Stealing: Allowed

- Legal Stages:
1. Singles random: Battlefield, Final Destination, Dreamland 64, Pokémon Stadium, Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi's Story
2. Doubles random: Battlefield, Final Destination, Dreamland 64, Pokémon Stadium, Yoshi's Story
3. Singles Counterpick: All singles random stages, Rainbow Cruise, Corneria, Brinstar, Mute City, Poké Floats, Kongo Jungle 64, Jungle Japes, Green Greens, Mushroom Kingdom 2
4. Doubles Counterpick: All doubles random stages, Rainbow Cruise, Corneria, Brinstar, Poké Floats, Kongo Jungle 64, Jungle Japes, Green Greens

Other Rules & Special Issues:
- Controller mods of any kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc.) are prohibited
- C-stick and Joystick mod allowed
- Stupid Fastliketree Rule: Throwing round-robin matches may be grounds for disqualification.
- Turbo or programmed buttons of any kind are prohibited.
- No stalling or otherwise preventing completion of a game or match
- Wobbling banned


NOTE: Any attempt to cheat or otherwise hinder another player's ability to play will result in disqualification from this tournament

You have 4 stocks and you must beat the elite four to win....

The Player can only stay as one character
The Elite Four can counterpick stage and character seeing as you are the challenger
If the Player wins the Elite Four Challenge, the Player will now be the "Champion" and will get one stock
The Player will then be part of the Elite Four Challenge (Lance will then have 4 instead of 5)

Dew Rag, it looks like you copy pasted the Melee ruleset from the SSBO Melee biweeklies at Purdue. I mean, yeah, pretty much everyone who makes tourney threads on the forums do that, but..

... just note that we have Green Greens and Jungle Japes banned because CunningKitsune thought it would be a cool idea to do that.

i don't mind not having green greens and jungle japes banned

unless there's a huge crowd that would love to have them unbanned i think it's fine with the ruleset that purdue uses

Andy, i would love to start at 11, but we only know for sure that we have the place from 12 - 12 atm. Until we get confirmation no one is using it in the morning, it will be 12 - 12

If no one is using it in the morning
it will start a lot earlier since we will have the place from 9 AM - 12 AM
but to be safe, it will be 12 PM - 12 AM for now

the twins will provide housing for some
i'll post more details later after discussing with other smashing people at UIUC

That's why I'm here. And why is wobbling banned? The back room discussions overwhelmingly favored not banning it.

I play a wobbling ICs all the time, and here's what I think about it:

• Kill the pink *****. Seriously. That should be your #1 priority even with wobbling banned.
• If I'm at 100%+, getting grabbed and wobbled to death isn't really that bad. I was almost dead anyway. If I'm wobbled to death at low percentages, THAT'S when I get screwed.
• I have won matches in which I was wobbled to death 3 times.
• Granted, we aren't exactly the best players out there (lack of tourney experience), but we aren't **** either. We are able to use all but the hardest techs, and I've been following the scene and watching videos. However, if you discount my views, I can understand why.

EDIT: I'd be interested in this and would be able to bring up to 3 or 4 people from my "crew" with me (depending on their plans.)

This sounds good, wasnt SMYM7 pretty successful? You should do a preregistration page like the KC tourney coming up.

Wobbling was supposed to be broken, but IC players never suddenly started winning across the board. The only reason you could possibly have for banning it is because you don't like it.

If that's the reason, well, okee dokes.

I personally don't think it's that bad, but my chronic inability to beat up Eskimos makes me want to ban it anyway.

Since I'm down at U of I all the time anyways, count me in. I'll probably bring teh Jazzness and Brightside along as well.
