Almost done, just need to test a few more

Here is a list of all of the characters that Yoshi's CG works on. Please correct me if anything is wrong. I tested this on a human opponent that knows how to DI and get out of grabs.
Keep looking for more characters to add to the list lets see how big we can get it!! We already have more then half the roster.

Tips/specific character help

-For DK, Ike, Charizard and ZSS you will have to dash perfectly or they will have enough time to jump.
-D3 is the hardest by far. You might have trouble doing a CG on him. To do it on D3 you have to time it perfectly unlike the other characters which you have room for a little error.
-MK, Wario and more characters can be up-smashed in the middle of the CG which will KO at high percentages.
- For Wario's infinate Yoshi has a tell. When he makes the "ZOMG he just got out of my mouth reaction" grab immediately after.
- Another Wario infinite method you can hold down R and/or L and just tap A and it will also work.
-Wolf, D3 and Snake may not work if you are playing Online but they do work Offline

And if you don't know how to CG heres the steps:

1. grab
2. chew
3. grab release
4. dash grab
5. repeat

You can find many way to finish at the edge.
In a world where Yoshi falls below all others, there is one way for him to rise above...
THE DRACONIC TROT

Section 1:Back To The Basics
First, to learn to DT, you must first learn to Foxtrot and DR, So first we shall start out with foxtrotting.

  • Fox Trotting
This is a repetitive dashing technique performed by hitting the analog stick forward, stopping, and hitting the analog stick forward again. You continue that method to Fox Trot. So once you get familiar with the Fox Trot we move onto...

  • Draconic Reverse
This is a DJC technique found by Karamity. I shall not go into the details of the DR, but show you the thread and the video on here to learn said skill.

-The Official DR Thread
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=175060

-The DR Guide by BigMan
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=_s0EDOH7MAM

Section 2: Combination Sensation
Alright we are now to the point you can begin to comprehend the DT, and the way it is done. So moving along, we shall now plunge into the ways of DTing.

  1. Fox Trot
  2. DR, but do not do the full inputted attack, just the cancel.
  3. Fox Trot
  4. DR

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1kCfKrsTUs

And so on, you get the just. But let me warn you, way easier said than done. Then while you practice your *** off to get this tech down your like what the point of this, we'll now we move onto...

Section 3: The DT and You
Alright so it's now that time again to discover all the uses of this tech. This section will be updated frequently, but as of right now we only have a few uses.

  • Speed
The DT makes Yoshi the second fastest character in the game when used at full speed, possibly the fastest. But we have not yet seen it's full speed. But so far, subman has performed it very fast but we think it is possible for it to go even faster.

  • Ledge Guarding
When doing this tech you can move to the edges very fast to gaurs before the even realize you are doing so. Thus one stock closer to victory.

The Complete Throwing Guide
Hello, this is a small guide I created after getting tired of Grabbing people all the time, but finding nothing to do with them. His throws can actually have quite a bit of potential to combo (His Dthrow especially), and can be used greatly in his game. Granted that none of these throw combos are 100% accurate (Excluding Grab Release), They're still effective and can work very well, they're just determine on what the victim does, and what you do.

Legend:

[RG] - Release Grab (Or Grab Release) : Grab Release is basically purposely letting them break out of your grab so that you can follow it up with another grab usually, or a strong attack depending on the character. This is the only one that is 100% accurate, but it only works on less than half the roster

[F/Btrw] - Forward/Back Throw : F/BThrows can be used to combo some characters but only in Early %'s. Can be used as a great opener, but after that, it's pretty much meh.

Dtrw - Down Throw : Yoshi's DThrow is probably his bread and butter when it comes to Throw Combos, and is probably the Number 1 Throw you want to do. It can combo into a variety of moves, and it even has HITSTUN! However the only problem is that it's direction can be skewed by slanted stages such as Lylat Cruise or Yoshi Island Brawl. It could work to your advantage, but it most likely just hinder you.

Dtrw + DownB
Accuracy - Good
Efficiency - Good

DownB Works ok out of a Dthrow. It can work pretty well as a finisher, and it has a pretty good hitbox. However the stiffness of the attack could make it hard to actually land the hit.

Dtrw + Nair
Accuracy - Bad (Good on Soft Nair)
Efficiency - Meh

I don't really recommend this at all. It only works on a few characters, and even those one are hard to land a hit on with a full strength one. Especially since the fact that if you can land a Full Nair on them, you can land the other ones much, much easier. It can be used as a Kill though if you're close to the edge.

Dtrw + Fair
Accuracy - Meh
Efficiency - Excellent!

Fair is a High Risk = High Reward type of move. It's kinda hard to land a hit with it with it's laggy nature and predictability. If you do get a hit though, you can immediately follow it up with a Fast Fall into an Nair for a easy to land and modestly powerful strike, or into a Bair, where you can follow that up with EVEN more combos, or with a powerful smash attacks. The Fair is actually disjointed too, so it's actually not that hard to land a hit.

Dtrw + Uair
Accuracy - Great
Efficiency - Great

Uair is probably the move you mostly likely want to use out of a Dthrow, as it's the most easiest to hit with due to it's lagless nature. It has a great power acceleration, and on lower %'s, can be combo greatly into good Wall of Pain Combos. Easily the most effective of the 4.

The List:

Before I start off the list, I just want to remind everyone that I am much aware that the Throw Combos are NOT 100% Accurate, but are still effective. Plus you can usually punish what they're doing to escape anyways.

The Percents are basically a reminder that this combo will only work until that Percent. After that, the combo is basically impossible to pull off because they go too high. I also conveniently listed when DownB/Uair will kill, along with some Release Grab Usmash's/Uair's.

Any% Basically means it will work at Any% before 200%. Nobody really lives past 200 anyways...

Now onto the list

TL:DR Version: USE MORE DOWN THROWS!

Have fun! :yoshi:
Yep, More Grab Release good news for Yoshi. Yoshi can Grab Release to Fair spike Multiple characters, but most importantly, MetaKnight! All you need to do is just grab them when their near the ledge (Or Chaingrab them there), on release, Run off the ledge or Shorthop depending on the character and do an Fair (Dair on Lucas/Ike) as soon as you leave the edge. The closer you are to the ledge, the better the result.

Old Video of the Original Six (MetaKnight, Sheik, Fox, Wolf, Squirtle, Ganondorf):
http://files.filefront.com/YoshiSpikewmv/;11540443;/fileinfo.html

Inescapeables

MetaKnight: MetaKnight is probably the hardest of the 6, but it's MetaKnight, so who cares! If you time the Fair perfectly (A few frames after as soon as you leave the edge), then he'll be spiked, no matter what he does.

Vid: http://files.filefront.com/YshMKFairwmv/;11567549;/fileinfo.html

Note: A Fair attempt from right on the Edge is rather hard to do and is limited depending on MetaKnight does, but if you don't want to risk it, then you can just fall, and then follow it up with a Rising Nair. It can kill fresh and Sweetspoted at about 85%, and is 4 Times easier to do!

Snake! Yep, Snake can be gimped extremely well also! First of all, here's a Video: http://files.filefront.com/SSBBYoshiSnakewmv/;11626596;/fileinfo.html

First thing first:
DO NOT CHEW! Chewing gives him back his UpB. Anyways, first thing is to get him on the Ledge, which can be done easily with ChainGrabbing. Now as soon as you release him, he can do one of 4 things. Here's a Rough estimate of his options:

Yellow: The Release from Yoshi to the point where Snake Recovers
Red: Double Jumping right away, will only reach the ledge and any interruption by you or himself with force to use his Cypher
Pink: Double Jump and using Cypher, Can be interupted by an Nair or Fair to make him go back and lower
Green: Delaying the Jump. Will never reach the ledge even with the Double Jump, and forced to use Cypher.
White: Cypher as soon as he recovers, will only reach the ledge, which can be snagged easily. If he fights back or Airdodge's, he dies

He can still C4 his way back (But it's very hard to do from a release!), but be ready to grab when he gets back up. It also does heavy damage to himself, and sometimes he'll be at over 150% before he can make it back safely! (If he makes it back at all, that is >_>)

Also, you can grab him before he can cancel and grab the ledge, which results in a Cypher Grab Break and killing him!

Ganondorf: First of all, if he tries anything (Fight back, Airdodge), he is dead, as demonstrated in the first part with him. He can still get away if he Double Jumps it, but only if your timing is alittle off.

Wolf: Wolf is pretty tricky because it requires Delayed timing. However once you get that down, it's pretty easy to do. Also just like Ganondorf, if he tries anything to defend himself, he's basically dead (Unless he has wicked control on his UpB)

Remember Delay the runoff by a bit, or else you'll do it too soon.

Squirtle: Pretty easy, but you need to react right away. Also pretty hard to sweetspot.

Sheik: Sheik is almost perfect for this. Only problem is that you can't Chaingrab Her (Or him >_>). Also it's alittle hard to sweetspot her than the others.

Fox: Same thing as Sheik, but easier.

Falco: *Update!* Yep! Falco's Fair Spike is indeed inescapeable! Just like MetaKnight and the others, If Yoshi reacts perfectly (Which is only possible offline), Yoshi can hit Falco exactly 1 Frame after he recovers from the release. What makes this better is that if you cancel out his Double Jump, he dies at ANY PERCENT!

Effective Mentions

Link: *Update* Fair doesn't really work that well anymore, but Dair does. Only problem is that unless you are quick to Edgehog, it will rarely kill him.

Diddy: Diddy is also one that puts him into a rough position. A Short Hop Fair is almost very Likely to Spike him, but he can go low. Only problem for Diddy as it makes it more likely for him to be Edgehog. He can also take him with you with his SideB, but Fair can usually beat it out.

Bowser: While he has some options, they all make him very vulnerable, and any type of ShortHop spike is almost certain death. He is also Bowser, and thus a Huge Target

Lucas: From Release, you can Short Hop Dair him, which is inescapeable. He will have a Tough UpB back to the stage though, which is still quite possible to do

*Update* Turns out it's not escapeable :( . Still effective though

Ike: I Spike for my Friends! Just like Lucas, you Dair instead of Fair, and relying on his poor recovery for the kill, you can also follow it up with a Footstool! Just look out for his Aether though

--------------------

The "Sweetspot"

There is a sweetspot on the stage, which you will have 100% Hitrate on MetaKnight, Wolf, Ganondorf, and Squirtle. The ideal spot is just near the edge, but not on it. Basically it's where the final "Arrow" Point is on Final Destination.

The Red Arrows mark the sweetspot.

What it does is that it makes Yoshi the perfect timing, distance, and height when he reaches his opponent at perfect. They can't do anything to react in time if Yoshi is in this spot.

--------------------

Spiking Chart KO Percents, for your enjoyment.

All Stages for Non-MetaKnight's:
Sheik: 21%
Ganondorf: 32%
Fox: 7%
Wolf: 17%
Squirtle: 10%
Link: 30%
Falco: 0% :D
Bowser: 30%

KO %'s for MetaKnight (Average is 48%):
Final Destination: 47%
Battlefield: 48%
Delfino Plaza - Main Platform: 48%
Delfino Plaza - Shine Spire: 48%
Delfino Plaza - Building: ???
Yoshi's Island (Brawl): 49%
Halberd - Platform: 51%
Halberd - Deck: 51%
Lylat Cruise: 46% (When Ship is Levelled)
Pokemon Stadium 2: 48%
Castle Siege - Left Side Tower: 48%
Castle Siege - Right Side Tower: ???
Castle Siege - Underground: 48% (Levelled)
Distant Planet - Right Side: ???
Smashville: 47%
Pictochat: 46%
Corneria - Left Side: 53% (It even kills him on a Non-Sweetspot. How cool is that!)
Corneria - Right Side: 48%
Pokemon Stadium 1: 48%

Anyways, Enjoy.

Alright, first off, anything else that needs to be added?

And, has anyone ever wrote a guide on how to DR with every method, and the such. I thought Scat might've but I couldn't find it. I can hardly find anything I'm looking for ever so I thought this might help.

I have a moveset list that I made a long time ago. I'll do a few touch ups on it and post it here.

(THIS TIME I REALLY MEAN IT!) lol.

Isn't this thread basically the same thing as the "Yoshi thread thread" or whatever it's called? Other than the fact that you pasted everything into this one? Sure looks like it. =/

No it's not, one beacuse Kiwi doesn't have near half of the needed threads.

(I'm adding way more later to this.)

Things get lost in the Yoshi boards very quick due to random spam threads, and question threads.

And Kiwi hasn't been active in this boards lately at all.

And this covers all aspects of Yoshi, not just vids, and radnom showoffyness. This makes everything easy to find in one placer where as going from thread to thread to thread to thread trying to find Yoshi info. Why go 9 places when you can go to one.

Fair enough. I'll wait and see what you add before I yell some more.

while on the subject, this reminds me, I ought to update the yoshi guide some. Hasn't been too much notable activity lately, but a brush-up would still be nice.

Hahaha alright.

I'm trying to restore the document on my momentum guide. I don't want to lost the three pages. But my laptop has been acting up. I'm going to have to fix that problem, and then post the rest, and add it.

That first post is going to be off epic proportions.

Your MOM hasn't been active at all.
Trust me, I've been here but I haven't been posting so much, probably because I realized no one was listening.

hahaha, no. Not yet at the very least.

Chaco's still got a lot of stuff to add here before you can say that. Links, for one. Unless he expects people to have to scroll through this giant wall of text whenever they want to find something that isn't at the top. In that respect, plain links are better IMO.

First I saw Kiwi's name and was like ^.^

Then I looked at the thing briefly and realized it was a small post and went like >.>
Then Kiwi made a your mom joke and I was like

O_O

Then Kiwi made another sentence that was less interesting then your mom jokes and I was like

-_-

Seriously, I would not lie about this....well maybe a bit.

There will be links. But, mainly they will be to less important things. Such as discussions if some things. I just find it easier to have everything in one place. I've been asked where things are at many a time.

I find that a lot of people don't bother checking stickies before asking nowadays, too. =P

I think that Yoshi himself can also escape it...

It makes me sad that people can escape it, though. I mean, it's supposed to be a two-hit combo! It's weird that the built-in combos in the game don't actually work most of the time (like Bowser Bomb and Sheik's f-smash). >_>

And Yoshi can't eat items, either. What the heck, Sakurai...

I need to update this, I'm rarely on my comp anymore due to grounding, so I'm on my phone web. It's hard to update on there.

I'll try to update soon.

OP, i see alot of other boards like your match up image you made. I suggest if you can, putting a hyper link that links to information about the match up for that character. Maybe you can even reuse the same image in the match up information too.

again, kudos for a very well made graph you've created.

Man. I've missed a lot of good info. I'll be sure to take some of these tips in mind. Although finding someone to play will be a *****. **** Melee Florida.

I live in Gainesville. But I don't think that I would be able to make it anyway. I'm living in jacksonville with my folks now and my dad's birthday on the 28th.

I may not be a huge tournement player nor do I play just to win, but I would love to go to at least one. Just to see what it's like. It's suck that I can only play against people here online, it doesn't do me justice at all.

Just another day.
You need to update with the frame data from Ref, and change some of the values on the matchups. I think it would be great if you linked to the matchup thread since that is getting more detailed analysis.
