Note: At this time I am unsure of this is actually a Boost Item Toss, I say this because depending what direction you press on the C-stick changes how far you slide! it doesn't, but some directions are easier. Does that make this an Dash Attack Cancel Item Toss? (DACIT)

This allows for (more) sliding smashes, specials and tilts! :laugh:

I know there is an In Depth Glide Tossing thread, so how about Boost Item Tossing? Something that is there just like glide tossing, but possibly better? *Look at Ike's glide toss, then DACIT. Glide toss = no distance | DACIT = ALL OF FD*

For those who do not know what a Boost Item Toss is, you must not main Link. :laugh:

Things to Know First:

Boost Item Toss:
How to Perform:
Get a hold of an item.
Perform a DAC (Timings Vary, from my testing YOU MUST USE C-STICK TO DO THIS)


DAC
Short for "Dash Attack Cancel"
(Note: Some people (Sheik mains mostly :laugh:) call this DACUS, short for DAC Up Smash)

How to Perform:

Do a dash attack
Do an up smash (almost at the same time, so immediatly after)
(Don't understand? Search youtube, search smashboards :| not that hard to find multiple videos/links)


Toss Lengths ~Where it gets In Depth
Testing is currently being done for every character, regardless if they spawn their own items. (They can always steal Diddy's!)

Lengths: Measured by rough Final Destination length estimates.
As soon as: The soonest you can DACIT starting from one side of FD (before arrows/first arrow/second arrow)
Possible Throws: What directions can you throw in?
Additional Information: Anything else we need to know?


Ike, Wolf, Fox, Link, Toon Link, Game and Watch, Luigi, Yoshi, and Meta Knight all have good/useful DACIT. Everyone else sucks


Having problems throwing Forward?

Solution:
To get the forward throw every time all you have to do is diagonal up/forward on your control stick instead of up.

Havins problems throwing Backward?
Solution:
To get the backward throw every time all you have to do is hold diagnol up/back on your control stick instead of up.

Note: All characters can do every throw, but some are much harder then others to get maximum distance, or a notable distance.

:ike: IKE Who say's Ike is Slow? (VIDEO CLICK HERE)
Lengths:
3/4th's of Final Destination
+ Counter - Entire FD

Possible Throws:

Up (so far thats all I can get)
Forward (same distance as Up + small "jump cancel" distance. (I'm doing this with Tap Jump OFF btw)

Additional Information:
Counter gives a strange boost. Forward is hard to get, but totally worth it.

DACIT > Glide Toss

:marth: MARTH
Lengths:
Barely anything, forward and back seem to negate some throw lag, allowing tipped fsmash to be easily guarenteed.

Possible Throws:
Up (laggy throw)
Forward (Similiar to Toon Link)
Back (Similiar to Toon Link)

Additional Information:
Forward throw of a Banana can lead to Tipped Fsmash because it has less lag then a dash toss.
However overall....

Glide Toss > DACIT

:mario: MARIO
Lengths:
1/16th of Final Destination (barely anything, but notable)

Possible Throws:
Up, Back

Additional Information:
Goes from Second Arrow to First Point of that Center FD Diamond Thing
No moves extend slide
Only useful for going into a Jab it seems like.
However....

DACIT > Glide Toss

:luigi: LUIGI (WEEGEE)
Lengths:
To opposite "point" of that Center FD Diamond Thing (3/4th's of FD roughly)

Possible Throws:
All

Additional Information:
Up Throw is the easiest and has the best slide
Back Throw is the second hardest and has the second best slide
Down Throw is the third hardest and has the worst slide
Forward Throw is near impossible haven't done it enough to tell the slide
All attacks except for his fireball and d-smash stop him immediately. He slides slightly instead of stopping with fireballs. He slides the full slide length with the d-smash

DACIT > Glide Toss

:peach: PEACH
Lengths:
She immediately stops in place. No Distance.

Possible Throws:
Up, Down, Back (Back being hardest)

Additional Information:
None

Glide Toss > DACIT


:bowser: BOWSER
Lengths:
Nothing notable at all.

Possible Throws:
All

Additional Information:
Horrible.

Glide Toss = DACIT

Lengths:
Nothing notable at all.

Lengths:
Up Throw: From First Arrow to Opposite Point of that Diamond FD Center thing.

Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?

How come I can't find Boost Item Tossing in the Comprehensive Guide to AT's? (or DACIT, rofl) thanks Bob. lol :)


I'm changing Boost Item Toss (since thats like... never used as a name) to DACIT. >: I don't care what people say.

Bombsliding should be refered to as DACIT...... since DACIT is (becoming) a general technique, that for most, isn't done with bombs.

Just for clarification, this technique is just a Boost Item Toss or Item Boosting. It shouldn't be considered as a 'DACIT'...since the technique is already known.

I suppose it just hasn't been tested thoroughly with every character. *shrug*

Same length as his normal Item Boost. Pretty darn far. Though I'm unsure how to perform a down throw or a back throw with this still... :/
Just did 3 fthrows, its hard, but WOW...... :laugh: tripping into fsmash anyone?

I can do bthrow/dthrow, but there useless. (About as far as a jump-canceled throw)

have you figured out how to do a throw when you want to? I can randomly get Ike's Fthrow 5 times in a row and when I think I have I start up throwing again.
Practice practice practice.

I did it 3 times in a row, twice when I wanted to, then started doing dthrows... then uthrows.... then I got another one in, then uthrows ever since.

Just takes practice

I think I may have figured it out. Got it about 7 times this way but not sure if I'm just mind gaming my self or something.

All you really do is just hold the direction your running in a bit longer. So it would be down cstick > forward + Z > up instead of Down Cstick > up + Z. Makes it sound like a push pull glitch rather than a DAC.

Possible as Soon as = No longer needed, you can do it from a (near) standstill like a QDA, it's just harder.

When testing is finished, should I place those with a "Useful" DACIT into a seperate group from those that don't?

Then have the order be:

ABC Order in USEFUL DACIT
ABC Order for JUST DATA DACIT


ps: Fox has an almost sexy DACIT (almost can regrab his Banana with fthrow :D)

Same sliding distance as the rest...but the item is thrown backwards instead(obviously).

No more vids...at least for now...I have work in the morning. :/

For backthrows, just tilt the control stick diagonally up and backwards. Keep trying until you find the right angle.

GAME AND WATCH UPDATED.

His is actually useful, his fthrow was just harder to test before the easy way was discovered. :)

His is as useful as his glide toss, but throws the banana further.

(afterthought:)

Ike/Marth will stay at the top. Ike because his is epic, Marth because he's part of FE and it makes my life easier.

Snake and Sonic are the only chars left.

edit 3:

Reason to believe that fthrow/bthrow will always have the same throw distance, don't want to update though and have it not be that way.

Reason to believe all characters can throw in every direction, with varying slides however. (mostly dthrow doesn't go far at all)

Actually, you'd be surprised. The smash lab has very much been discussing the naming of DACs and Boost and You'll find it to be a lot more common in the near future to hear the term "Boost Item Throw", and less common to hear the term "DAC"

I still think Boost Item Throw takes way to long to type.

Does TL's DACIT cover more length than jump cancel item toss (JCIT)?

I think it covers just -barely- more then the jump cancel.... I also think it (seems) to have less lag?

I didn't really test his all that much, I was having problems doing Forward.. I'll re-test and get back to you.

EDIT: Did work son.

Jump Cancel Toss goes slightly further, has very slightly less lag, and its easier to do.

Havokk, isn't dash->Usmash just a hyphen smash? DACUS is Dash->Down on C-stick->Up and Z.
Except this is with with:

Dash
Hold Up, Up/Forward, Up/Backward
Any direction C-stick (you can do this for DACUS, but Down c-stick is easier for DACUS it seems like)
Z (you're holding up! remember! This is the same thing as pressing up+Z)

So recap:

Dash
Down C-stick
Up+Z


.... seems like a DACUS to me

If you dash and hold up won't you jump though if you have Tap Jump on?


And thanks for clarifying.
You don't hold up with Tap Jump On.

Tap Jump On just makes it harder to throw back/forward.

You have to DAC like you normally would (at that speed), meaning you can't hold slightly forward and up, and have to QUICKLY press it from UP to FORWARD/UP to throw forward.

I was trying it like that, hence my failed forward results for about half the cast....

This is only really useful for Link, because he can do this with his bomb's right? I mean sure it is useful for Ike against a Diddy, but if the Diddy is smart, he will just stall if you grab a banana.

Nice use for Link though.

Renaming my bombsliding!?

DACIT is ok I guess, the name really doesn't matter, Im still naming this bombsliding because Im used to it.

Im also surprised so many ppl didn't know about it, I've been doing this with other characters other than Link since it was discovered but I guess since its more useful with Link, it never really got to the other char boards.
