After the vibrant success of FFYF1, Live2Win proudly presents the 2nd Smash tournament in Montreal after the release of Brawl. FFYF1 Had around 60 people attending and for this event we are aiming for double the attendance.

Once again Gamer's World will be sponsoring us.

This venue has 2 floors. The top floor will be for brawl, and the bottom floor will be for melee. We are getting both floors for the same price. This will make things run very smoothly. This also means we can hold up to 150 people. There will be a mic with 4 speakers, so people on the bottom floor will be able to hear me on the top floor.

The venue has a liquor license, so YES you can drink at the venue. You can NOT bring your own (since we ourselves do not have a liquor license). You can buy from the venue. It also has a kitchen, which can be used.

Entry Fees and Format

Singles - $15

-Round Robin Pools (size and quantity to be decided depending on sign-ups); top 32 players advance to a double elimination bracket. All matches are best of 3, except for Winners', Losers', and Grand finals, which are best of 5.

Doubles - $20 ( $10 per person)

-Double Elimination. Matches are best of 3, except for Winners', Losers', and Grand finals, which are best of 5.
-Life Stealing is allowed
-Set team attack to ON


Prizes:
- Singles and Doubles: 65%/25%/10% split for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place

-Depending on attendance, cash prizes could be awarded to 4th and 5th place.

Friday

Anytime after 9:30 pm, people can come to pre-set up. I will be there and I will be bringing all my TV's as well as picking up TV's from people's houses. IF you want to come to help set up, by all means do so.


Saturday

-10:00 am Doors open
-11:00 am Registration for Melee Singles and Brawl Doubles
-12:00 pm Registration ends
-1:00 pm Melee single pools and Brawl doubles brackets
-2:00 pm Registration for Brawl Singles and Melee doubles
-3:00 pm Registration ends

Sunday

-10:00 am Doors open
-11:00 am Registration for Low Tier tourney ( Melee and Brawl)

-3:00 pm Melee and Brawl Low tier bracket

General rules:​

• 3 Stock
• 8 minute timer
• Items are set to "off" and "none"
• In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
• Dave's Stupid Rule: No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
• In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
• If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.
• Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
• If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
• If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
• Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
• Stalling is banned.

Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.


Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

Turns out that my March break does is during this tourney. I better start convincing.

The only realistic way of me making it is if I could convince my dad to go for hockey or something...if the Leafs play Montreal at any time around that date then I have a chance.

Im on a montreal road trip from the 15th-20th and then reach this tourny after
my march break is gonna b too ****ing sick

Alright. First off, I will totally be there. Like... no doubt.

Secondly, I am willing to provide housing to 2-4 people. My place is fairly small but I live downtown near a metro station. I have two couches that can be used for sleeping on and some floor. If you are planning on sleeping here please bring sleeping bags or something. I might have an inflatable mattress too, i'll look into it.

Woot, gj on hosting this people. I should be able to go(its in montreal and on a weekend im pretty sure i dont have anything scheduled, unlike probably the date of the next OIN at the start of spring vacation). Uh, il try to bring in the following:
2 VCRS
1 DVD Recorder
1 wii with infinite replay hack
Last time i was able to bring 2 vcrs and 1 wii so i dont know if il have enough place for the dvd recorder too.

Oh and zaf, your crew is full of win. Talking about crews, do you think brawl crews could be made possible?

someone should start advertising this to the americans... maybe put ally's name in the title or something =P

edit: dunno if it makes any difference for the confirmed list, but i might only be entering melee. well...i guess it depends...in brawl is everyone gonna camp me? cause i like the game, but it's not very fun when people are super careful like that. guess it depends what pools will look like. more pros probably means more fun playstyles.
