Hi.

I'm Inferno. You may refer to me as such. Also acceptable is: Obama, Mr.Sir.Dr.Daddy, or the Reverend ****. These all work. No you may not use my real name.

That out of the way, welcome to the MWC-W thread. I decided to make a new thread to replace the planning thread so we can have a more direct approach. You may be asking yourself, what the Midwest Circuit-West includes, well I'm glad you asked. Look at this map, Steeler made.

Recommended Ruleset

Rules:
-3 Stock
- 8 minute timer
-Items are set to "off" and "none"
-All sets will be best of 3 matches. The Finals (Losers/Winners/Grand) will be best of 5.
-In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
-No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
-In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
-If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.
-Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
-If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
-You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
-Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

Rules for Double's:
-Life Stealing is allowed
-Team attack ON
-Stalling is banned.
Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

Stage Striking: Players take turns striking stages from the starter list until only one remains; these stages are not banned and can be counterpicked later in the set.

Double-blind pick: This means that all participating players must tell a judge the character they will use for that game. Each player is required to use that character in the game.

Neutral Stages:
- Battlefield
- Final Destination
- Yoshi's Island
- Pokemon Stadium 1
- Smashville

Counterpicks:
-Lylat Cruise
-Delphino Plaza
-Halberd
-Norfair
-Frigate Orpheon
-Pokemon Stadium 2
-Castle Siege
-PictoChat
-Jungle Japes
-Rainbow Cruise
-Brinstar

I think April should be in MO, either in Kirksville or St. Louis. IS should be reserved for the championships imo because it is the most central.

Make sure its not planned on or around World HOBO. Wichita is planning on going to that.

Currently we are looking at Kirksville, MO hosting the third tournament in April, and Minnesota hosting the 4th in May. Iowa is currently the most likely place to have the championships since it's right in the middle of everything. I'll try and get with the TOs for these events and iron everything out soon.

My venue would love to host a huge tournament this summer for MWE vs MWW. People can camp for $5 a night rather than pay for a hotel.

It will be amazing.

I would suggest not holding this tournament in Indiana though. Illinois seems to be the most central state in the Midwest so we should probably do it in like Central/Southern Illinois or St. Louis. That would probably be about an even drive for everyone (except Ann Arbor and Legan).

I'd be all about throwing together a combined event for the midwest here, but that's not the sort of thing I can start without group blessings. If interest holds up, we can make it happen.

I thought I'd bring up circuit points; even if it's Inferno's responsibility and ultimately his call, discussion is generally good. This is what my math says points should be using the previous circuit placement scoring, removing the non-circuit players, and rounding:

40 points
-----------
KY

25 points
-----------
Holms
8-bit

15 points
-----------
Inferno
Domo
Clel

9 points
-----------
Thinkaman
Affinity
StealthRaptor

5 points
-----------
FattyFatFatso
Zeton
ArkiveZero
Kit
Joker
BoRn

2 points
-----------
BoJangles
Blank
Harbringer
MetalMusicMan
Steeler
Legan
Zinth

I may have left some out-of-circuit people in by mistake, and other people might round differently from me once you get lower than 6 points. I also didn't bother digging up all the 33rd place players and sorting out who to give a single point to...

Edit: I just wanted to reiterate that even if these aren't the exact numbers we decide to use, we should definitely reallocate points like this (as discussed). The circuit loses credibility if KY does not get full credit for winning this--I thought the last circuit was kinda silly in that they let DSF keep the points from Ann Arbor, even if it ended up not mattering since it was only one person and Anther wins everything anyway.

Anyone can compete in any circuit of course; it's just gracious of Texas to not devalue KY's regional victory, and we shouldn't ignore that.

I've sought advice on the points issue. I have recieved it and I will make my own personal decision on them sometime later this week so keep your eyes open for that. ASC, I need you to get me some confirmation on a Kahoka tourney soon.
