Grand OTL Tournament 1​

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Grand OTL Tournament. The first online tournament hosted on SWF with a pot between $60-$90 in Wii points. This is an 128 man tournament, we feel that this tournament will fill up relatively easy due to it's massive prize. We hope you'll enjoy this tournament that is set to be held on Brawl's Anniversary, March 7th 2009.​

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! THANKS TO GLYPH AND THE COOLEST FREAKING ADMIN EVER, THEBUZZSAW, WE ARE OFFERING THE 1ST PLACE FINISHER A CUSTOM TITLE OF THEIR CHOICE!​

Times for each bracket and the such have not been decided yet, we will decide closer to time for the tournament.​


Dealing with problems in general:​

Okay guys, we're not all 5 year olds and are going to tattle on every little mishap. But there is quite a bit at stake here. So we expect some problem to arise. So in the event of "problems" come to one of us. Us being:

Formatting of this tournament:
This will be different from ever before guys. We are going to seed the top 10 players. We will have four brackets of 32. The top 8 from each will be taken into a final 32 bracket, which they will compete for the heavy load and a FREAKING CUSTOM TITLE!​

Basic Rules For This Tournament:​


1. 3 stock, no items, and no time limit.​

2. Pick any character you want. CPing characters is allowed.​

3. Only the legal stages are allowed. ​

4. First stage is agreed on by both players. Loser picks the next stage. ​

5. Quitting, restarting the match, stalling for longer than 10 seconds (like with Mario's cape stalling or Jigglypuff's rising pound), and purposely SDing will lead to disqualification.​

6. Chain grabs, spamming, suicides (like Ganondorf's and King Dedede’s) and locks are allowed. No johns about players who do any of these things excessively. It’s YOUR fault if you can’t get past them. Play to win. All of these are legitimate strategies and can be overcome. Personally, I’d recommend counterpicking stages if you really have a problem with them.​

7. No pissing.​

8. No moaning.​

9. A combination of 7 and 8 will not be tolerated either.​

10. In the event that lag is beyond unplayable and both players agree. The match will be decided by a coin toss.​

11. Meta Knight's Inter Dimensional Cape is banned, it is considered stalling.​

12. Bower's suicide rules and Ganon's suicide rules is in effect.​

13. Each played may ban one stage at the beginning of the set.

14. After a set (best 2 out of 3 until the semi-finals which will be 3 out of 5 along with the Finals), either player should report the results here. ​

When submitting results, please state what bracket you are in for convenience of the directors.
OR, for even further conveniance, PM the director who is in charge of that bracket.
General breakdown: This will be a single elimination bracket UNTIL Round 3, then it will turn into a double elimination. So the top 32 will have 2 chances at getting to the top. A new bracket will be made with all 32. WE WILL BE VERY STRICT ABOUT TIMES AND DEADLINES, IF YOU AREN'T ON TIME, THE MATCH WILL BE DECIDED BY WHO POST LAST, OR A COIN FLIP. Wii Points are non-transferable.
There is no way to send them out.

As long as you have not used the card, they're still valid. You can still give the other person the 12 digit number, they can input it, and they'll get their points.

You could always try that, Chaco. That's what I did for my tourney, I PM'd the actual code, and had the winner redeem the points himself. He received all 2000 points and it was less stressful on me. Try it, if you'd like.

In case of unplayable lag, I mean, SERIOUSLY unplayable, like freeze for 10 seconds then DC. And if you keep trying and it doesnt work, it should be decided by a coin flip.

Metaknights IDC is banned, considered stalling.

Bowsers suicide rule

I can't wait until my Chain Grabs become instinct.
Right now I have to think about what I'm doing and which way to throw. And I'll have to learn what CG's work for what characters and how long they can be CG'd depending on the.... CG...

So I have a ton of work to do lol
The learning curve is probably what turns some people away from IC's
But I want to learn more about them lol

I'm also sensing a drop of "Main" status for Luigi sometime soon....
He's getting to that "Boring" phase.... =/

Maybe I just need to take a break from using him for a bit

We will make sure this doesn't fail

Though I sense a bunch of dropouts/DQ's

We will need to make sure that we clearly state the dtae and times and the deadlines

I think I have a good understand of the rules and can help anyone with questions, as well. Are you going to have an xat chat for this tourney?

I think that'd be a major help, since everyone can chat in real time, instead of being ignored because so many people might post here.

We are going to seed the top 10 players.
Okay, In this part we are going to put 10 players (really good players) in this tourney that are good in specific parts through out the brackets. Like see some offline tourney brackets for an example.

We will have four brackets of 32.
The main 128 will be broken down into like 4 section containing 32 people inside each one.


The top 8 from each will be taken into a final 32 bracket, which they will compete for the heavy load.
Then the top 8 of each bracket is basically going to be put into another bracket of 32 to compete for the actual prize.
