This is the resurrection of KOTC. Everyone remembers classic matches like this one here. For years KOTC has provided tons of quality tournaments were plenty of top name players got started. Due to some unfortunate problems, Smash lost popularity at the King of the Couch, and now I'm here to change that. I'm here to set things straight, and continue to provide awesome tourneys by the players, for the players. This is the RESURRECTION.

What is KOTC?
KOTC, or King of the Couch, is a series of tournaments in the tri-state area (primarily North Jersey) that offer top notch competition for Super Smash Bros. (Melee and Brawl), Halo, Madden, and more! KOTC has held a countless number of events with Smash all held from top-name TOs like TheSuicideFox, WoZ, and more. ChiboSempai is the newest to join the group, and he is ready to get Smash the recognition and professional style competition it once had.
KOTC is not your regular underground tournament. We are a group of professional tournament organizers running a business. Please read all information about every tournament you decide to attend. KOTC used to be known for paying out very little money to the winners compared to what was collected from entry fees. Now that I'm runnin' the show, it's all different! KOTC will now feature the standard venue fee and entry fee for singles and doubles that will be paid back completely to the players. What you can expect for this are top-notch professional events complete with equipment ready to get your game on!

Time
Venue opens and signups start at 8:30am
BE THERE BY 10AM FOR MELEE DOUBLES
Melee singles will start after doubles is over.

Price
Venue Fee: $10
Singles: $10
Doubles: $10 per team
100% of singles and doubles pots will be payed out to the winners!

Rules

Any players using a wireless controller for any gaming system MUST REMOVE YOUR BATTERIES when not playing. Anyone caught with an active controller while not playing a tournament match will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified from all tournaments and escorted from the venue. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXCUSES, NO SECOND CHANCES!!!
A tournament official will be present at all times to ensure these rules are followed. All decisions are final.
These rules are subject to change at anytime.
Before the first match, both players will choose their characters with a blind pick if needed. Each player bans one stage for the set (neutral or cp). The first match is then a random stage from the neutral list with no resets (unless a player banned the stage)
Second and later matches proceed with the previous loser picking the stage, winner choosing character, then looser choosing character.
All matches are best of 3 except for finals which will be best of 5

Items are off
4 stock 7 minute time limit
No wobbling
No stalling
No freeze glitches

Setups
KOTC will provide us with 4-8 setups (SD Tube TVs!) including game setups. Feel free to bring your own setups to make this tourney even better!

60% to 1st Place
30% to 2nd Place
10% to 3rd Place
Doubles:
60% to 1st Place
30% to 2nd Place
10% to 3rd Place

ok i was able to work out a deal with the owner:
$10 venue fee
$10 singles
$10 per team doubles

100% of the pot will be paid out to the winners in standard style for 1st 2nd 3rd.

Later KOTCs will feature brawl

Bleachigo - things are different now. you wont want to miss KOTC

About 375 gamers will differ with you from last weeks event. Including the number 1 Gears of War2 Team. The Madden World Champion, Top 20 HALO3 teams etc.

We are working on rebuilding our Smash events. Our original Smash guy suicidefox went over to Gears Of War2 and we are now getting the Smash Back on track. WES, M2K and many others made their marks at KOTC events. We have a deep history with Smash Brothers and now with new leadership on board, WE ARE BACK WITH A NEW BEGINING.

everyones always criticized kotc for the way they do payouts and stuff, and i was able to fix it.

i need to think of a cool name for this tourney. any ideas?

yea i dont kno what number were up to. i dont even kno if the owner knows lol. kotcs been around doing events for years. and the owner told me to come up with a cool subname for this one lol

We are probably in the 70's with events by now. Suicide Fox started it back in 2004.

And yea, KOTC 78 doesn't sound so awesome >.< What about KOTC: Spring Melee Meltdown HAHA

I'm also trying to push for a Halo Wars event. I got the game the other day and it's pretty fun. Great for a console RTS, and since I have no patience for these games it says a lot when I'm willing to endorse it.

No, all glitches are banned. I allowed weapon sliding for 1 tournament, but now you can't do it anyway so...

And yes, that includes glitching through lasers on Security or behind the generator on River.

There are usually players looking for a 2v2 partner. Heretic (the guy who helps me) was looking last event, but I think he has a teammate for this one. I'm trying to get my buddy Osaka to come, but he has been lazy and just not shown up LOL. And he is beast at the game too. I always tease him to turn off his game genie LMAO

Hey eggm, is this a tournament for melee? It seems to be a game-fest where every game is of equal importance, if so, I don't really want to go, since I only want melee. There probably won't even be enough setups.

dont worry itl be soon, sry, iv been busy with work (which i cant do it there), and then iv been home in south jersey for the weekend, and i couldnt work on it here cause the laptop i brought uses windows 7 and it has no sound so movie maker wont open, and i cant hear the commentary to tell whos playing. however i finally got the audio working yesterday so im gonna see if i can start workin on it today, and if i dont finish it then i should be able to tomorrow

We have various sections for different games. Each game has it's own flavor. If we have the info for the proper amount of people coming, we will be ready.
