Welcome to the Smash Workshop where we provide information on all of your favorite Super Smash Brothers Custom projects. This thread is here to introduce to you what you will be seeing here in the foum as well as an idea of what rules we will require you to follow. Many of these rules, if broken will lead to an infraction, and possibly even a ban depending on the severity or repeated nature of the offense.

Through this post we hope to keep you informed of all the updates and changes with your favorite Smash Projects. So please read up and be informed of everything going on with whichever project you have found in favor. We will try to keep this post as updated as possible with all these projects in the future.

Rules:

- MLG does not endorce modding Wiis. MLG owns smashboards, therefore you shall not speak of modding Wiis in anyway on this forum. If you need help with the modding of your Wii, installing Homebrew or the like then please go to www.google.com and get the help you need.

- Linking to hacker sites or hacker tools is against the rules, do not do it.

you just have to install something, it's software, sometimes this is referred to as soft mod yes. He is talking about physically hard modding a mod chip into your wii, which is illegal and allows you to play pirated copies of games, that is not what we are about, we are about simply installing our own software which in no way allows theft, and is also not against the law.

But for the safety of MLG and others we aren't going to discuss modding Wiis because even though B+ itself isn't illegal, you can use the programs we use for B+ to do illegal activities.

It's not that modding your Wii is illegal per-se, but it's just that MLG wants to avoid any controversy surrounding this. They own SWF now, so they gotta keep up a good image.

And really, it's not that hard to just use Google.

Are we allowed to discussing Wii soft-modding on the brawl+ chat, or is that off-limits too? And if we are allowed, are we allowed to direct people with questions about soft-modding to the chat?

And does "linking to hacker sites and hacker tools" include links to pages where you can download .gct files?

The brawl+ chat is not part of swf nor is it owned by mlg. It is entirely third party. However, because it is third party, that also means that we cannot direct people to it on the forums. If you need to direct someone to the brawl+ chat, it's better to use PMs.

GCT files have nothing to do with the act of modding your wii, so they're fine.

So...because the Make Your Move Stadium is third-party, we're not allowed to link to that either?

Read the global rules at the top. No linking to third party websites (especially other forums) allowed except for when it's pertinent to the topic, such as in giving an example of something, like giving a link to a news article. Essentially, "no advertising." I don't know what this means for the make your move stadium, as I have no idea what kind of site that is. Depending on its execution, it may be just fine, or an exception to the rule; I assume that it's a critical part of the make your move process. You could probably assume that it's ok until told otherwise by a mod, at which point you would then need to cease linking to it.

Leaf, that rule primarily applies to the stopping of commercial ventures on the forums. The IRC is pertinent to the B+ community, so that's perfectly all right, as is (probably) his MYM website.

Posts like these are sad.

Why should you care? It's not infringing on your game at all. It's just like if it were Melee vs. Brawl. I play my game, you play yours.
This.

Anyways, shouldnt the Official Code Q&A+Requests thread be mentioned in the OP as well?

What about Balanced Brawl? Isn't that a supported project? It's being used in some tournaments, isn't it? About as much as Brawl+ to my understanding...
