Yeah, if Yoshi didn't have a 20/22-frame spot dodge, he would have NO defensive options at all.

DDD's was the reason Prime even did this research. If I remember correctly he said that some attacks wont hit DDD until after the 27th frame. And it definitely looks like DDD is invincible for all 27, lol. So yeah, it looks like hes in dodge animation from 20-27 but some things can hit him like pikas dsmash.

D3, Diddy, and Squirtle's dodge is 100% correct. I used the debug code to get this data.

My theory on why D3's dodge seems so good is that during frames 21-27, D3's hurtbox is still far in the background so attacks with little "background range" will still miss him, like Wario's bite and grabs. If you used like a spinning type attack, it will hit him during those frames. So against some attacks, it's possible for D3 to perfect shield it coming out of a spot dodge. The same could be true for Diddy and others.

In short, D3 has a 2-27/27 dodge against some attacks.

From what ive been told I think grab is pretty much useless against a spot dodging DDD, which i think is a common reaction and probably why people think its so Godly. Who knows maybe some characters grabs can do it.

His options are good.

They are made better by the spotdodge itself. Though I don't have any way of testing for frame data, I'm fairly certain ROB's spotdodge has to be one of the better ones.

Are you going to do AD Frame Data as well? I've heard that Ike's AD is tied for best with Wario's, but it would be nice if more then one source can confirm that. That, and I'm curious as to where everyone stacks up in ADs.

maybe the odd numbers are due to upper body invincibility. ddd could be upper body invincible throughout the 27 frames, but only lower body invincible for the first 20

i wouldn't think so, since smash usually just does all or nothing on the hitbox, but it is possible

The frame by frame animation of invincibility (i.e. glowing) is extremely inaccurate in indicating when you are invincible or not.

argh why are people so hell bent on including start-up in frame data, its redundant

I mean start-up frames = [hitbox comes out - 1] is very obvious... no attack in the game has a start up that isnt that lol

I just checked Squirtle's dodges again and my data is correct, stamina doesn't matter either. Squirtle's spot dodge invincibility is definitely 2-20.

I'll have air dodges up later.

As you have -just- retested it I can only infer I've made an error. I will retest however, as I was mostly sure that I noted squirtle not being 'touchable' on frame 3 of his roll, and was hittable on frame 2 of his spot dodge.

Regarding the spot dodge, it could be like DDD's where he has background vulnerability frames, so only 3D attacks will hurt him for a few of those.
