The NEW ROB Matchup Discussion: WE'RE DONE!!

Since we haven't had a matchup discussion in a LOOONG time, and I don't want to force Sudai to partake in upkeeping vBrawl related threads with his interest in Brawl+ (aside from the standard sticky-ing, locking), and I'm doing the matchup synopses- I figured that it makes sense that I oversee the finishing out the discussions.

Once a character has been decided on, a new thread for discussion will be made. Just like in Sudai's version, this is a composite directory. Therefore, this will be used to decide WHO WE ARE GOING TO DISCUSS NEXT. Each discussion will last approximately one week. Participation of other character mains are encouraged! Once the discussion of a character is finished, its thread will be moved here.

Characters Not Discussed:
I know that some characters have discussions on their boards about ROB that some of us have taken part in. While these provide valuable data, the turnout by the ROB mains on said boards was lackluster to say the least. Also, many of those are extremely outdated, and so warrant a "fresh" discussion. I also realize that characters have been covered in "loose" discussion here inasmuch as someone wanting tips against certain characters (which turns into a nice little thread), but these discussions usually focus on a few (or only one) facet/s of the matchup. Therefore, it should be noted that they need to be FULLY discussed.

I personally would like to see Olimar as well... but, I'll wait and see what others come up with before tallying teh votes.

I vote ZSS (due to the newly found "infinite") or that we go ahead and get higher tier characters out of the way. At least what we see at the tournament scene the most.

I find that f-tilt really give Olimars a lot of trouble. And understand that they can easily punish your D-Smash by shielding it. And don't let the idea of pikmin on you bother you too much (unless it is white) I usually just keep pounding away at the space man with a lot of pressure and it generally seems to work since I consistently beat one of the best Olimar's in the Midwest. Also, there is a pikman pluck chart in the Olimar boards that you might find some use of. It could give you an idea of where to take Olimar and where not to.

Edit: Are we going to rediscuss any of the discussed?

The ones that are HORRIBLY outdated insomuch as some type of at or strat was developed between that old discussion and now; yes. Until then, Id really like to be able to go through characters we haven't even TOUCHED that people have problems with AND see somewhat frequently in tournaments.

We've discussed him, but it was quite a bit ago, I think. I am trying to find the thread so I can do the synopses and move him to the right place, but I havent really looked THAT hard for it. All in all, it should pretty much be the same aside from a few new things, or am I really missing something? If so, then I have no problems with snake either.

My vote most definately goes for Snake. Second highest character on the tier list and possibly ROB's best competitive matchup relative to other characters in the game (remember all the hype half a year ago when ROB's like MaXXXpower were tearing through Snakes?).

*Edit* Having just read your response post, I'll change my vote towards ZSS then, it seems to be the most dramatic change in matchup recently.

If you have trouble with Snake, try thinking about it.

Snake is an otherwise godly character destroyed by one or two main flaws which can be taken advantage of very well by ROB.

FEARedound I don't even know who you are

- Snake is incredibly slow in the air
- Snake is easily outcamped by ROB

Step 0. Camp him until he gives up on camping (not necessary if the Snake has enough experience to know he can't outcamp you)
Step 1. Space Ftilts and Bairs and Fairs until you can get a grab
Step 2. Get Snake in the air
Step 3. Repeat until Snake dies

Mostly I'd just like to see the ROB boards stay on track since people are actually pushing for development of one of the few characters I can enjoy in Brawl. If it were a "Smashboards is strict" thing, you'd both be at 4-5 points worth of spam infractions right now.

Also, unless anyone has any objections:

In order to get caught up to the other character boards, starting next Tuesday (when we do Snake) we will do *two* characters per week. So, we will be doing Snake AND Olimar. So, get in your suggestions for the week after!

Also, once it gets to the point that the discussion has pretty much fizzled out (again, for the sake of expediency) discussions may be "called" if a general consensus can be reached.

Note: I think at some point we need to rediscuss Wario, Fox, and Pikachu as almost... nothing was really said about them, and no matchup ratios/cps were mentioned. So, they are viable options, along with chars we have yet to discuss.
