Stealing everything Ankoku has ever done (except mine's completely automated [maybe not the unique tier names])!
P.S. This is not a tier list in the traditional sense. You're an idiot if you think this is an indication of the 'order' of the best characters in the game.

Here is the Australian Brawl Character rank list.
Points are accruded through the top 8 placements' character usages in tournaments.
Point Base = (Entry Fee * Number of Entrants) / 100
First = 10; Second = 7, 3rd/4th = 4, 5/6th = 2, 7/8th = 1.

How to read:
<Tier Rank> (<Joke tier name>) (<tier's total points ratio>) [tier's total character ratio]
(i.e. the percent of points this tier has compared to the rest, and the percent of characters taking those points. So Tier A has 48% of points, and 11% of the characters in it)
or
<Rank>. <Char Name> (<placements>) - <points> [<percent of total>] ~ [change] ~

For a very long time, I considered the total amount of points as a good guide of the tournament scene here in Australia. However within recent months there has been continual growth, to the point that only considering the last 3 months, we obtain a very good indication of the current character's taking placements in Australian tournaments and the trends of the scene. So from now on, the 3 monthly list will have a higher importance than the 'total' one [which I'll post at the bottom]

As Australia has grown as a scene, the previous minimum of 8 entrants and no entry being possibly considered is removed. The standard is now 12 players and a real entry fee.
Characters listed against your name must follow most of these criteria:
- You won with that character (essential)
- And you also won that subsequent set (essential)
- They are used for the majority of what constituted your placement ~ As in the characters you used the most in the most important sets/matches.
- Characters you use that stray from your normal for your opponent's counterpick are debatable [i.e. I pick MK when someone says Rainbow Ride and won the match may not be worthy as an addition]

A lot of australian tournaments don't distribute cash prizes.
Data such as amount of money people have spent on tournaments is pretty easy... but do you really want it?

As the active may be aware, the Yanks and sorts are getting public opinion on whether or not Meta Knight should be banned (by the SBR). Whilst my opinions on it, especially those in the topic, are for a yes, I take a different consideration for Australia.
My reasoning for an SBR ban are that without Meta Knight, Brawl as a competitive game would be better.

In Australia though, Meta Knight isn't a pandemic. Even though Meta mains are popping up, they're few and far between; and only one is remotely 'threatening' by the majority of players. In other words, my opinion on the matter is, is as long as we're as small as we are, and Meta Knight isn't a pandemic, we don't need to ban him.
However, I believe in natural progression. I believe that as times goes on, and Australia grows, Meta Knight will most likely become a pandemic. When/if that comes, I'll have the same opinion as the one I have relating to the SBR ban.

if you did we would have to use lower tier characters like snake and falco and even d3. can you believe that?
I cant see myself using lower tier characters like them.

dont ban him, its completely unnecessary. we just have to figure out ways around stuff. this game is slowly balancing itself out, in case no body else noticed. remember when originally it was thought that snake was god? then counters popped up left right and centre and he had a fall from grace. similarly, for a while, falco was considered outrageously good, but now is merely average in tourny rankings cause people know how to play him. admittedly, mk is a little bit more difficult to work out, but i dont think its impossible. i almost beat amaterasu on my first go against a mk, and tibs was actually victorious, despite a complete lack of experience. so, i suppose my point is, instead of whining about how good mk is, devise ways to beat him, cause, like all the others characters, he is capable of losing.

My sort of johns Anyway the aussie rankings list is stupid. far too easily skewed by good players or things like afros latest tourney lmao. imagine avcon in adelaide. apparently they are expecting 128 entrants to make the brawl singles bracket. you can bet only 30 people there play brawl and maybe 5 actually know of SWF

@ attila it seems MK is fine to beat. you guys just havent played against an extremely gay MK. take note of your match vs ama. see how many times he got punished for using tornado. do the maths, he could do about 100% for every time you manage a single succesful grenade counter.

MK is TOO GOOD, but no one in australia seems to be willing to show how. When someone plays gay with MK and is actually very good, then it gets interesting Only a few characters can match the gayness lol

Don't Underestimate Metaknight Before Seeing How Ilag Triumphs.

Really tho ILAG is a tool. Pity his ban's been lifted.

The Japanese have had MK soft banned for a while apparently. I think it's only a matter of time before he's banned everywhere.

It's a US problem aswell, which is how this discussion started. I'm not saying he should be banned at this point, but to say they he isn't broken is stupid.

needs more reseach imo, my second tourney was called mario pro not lukes 2.
also some of us NSW players know how devastating meta knight can be, when kulla used to play he like never lost ever, except to chris one time in QLD because he did things like pick snake and counter pick on rainbow cruise (keep that pressure on chris)

Anyway the TOs in the East ban DDD's standing infinite and small-step chaingrab? I've banned it at my tournaments but I want to know what you guys do.

As for Metaknight... definitely not banworthy. Especially since no-one plays him supergay in australia as far as I'm aware.

Australia needs more falco rep

no bans on d3, aside from counter stage restrictions (nothing with permanent walls or permanent walkoffs). i dont mind it this way really, except i think a few more stages should be d3 banned (ps, delfino, etc) or we should restrict wall chaingrabs to a certain percentage. if you take the grab away from him completely hes kinda useless. this is coming from a snake main btw...

CG against a wall is deemed stalling beyond 100% I thought?

MK is definetly not bannable, there's no reason to even question it.

After actually playing properly for a while I wonder if there's even a reason he's still top tier.

He's so easily outranged and camped, ****, If I was making tiers I'd probably have Falco at the top atm.

i have been chaingrabbed against walls on ps and delfino past that damage (about 160% on ps until the tree disappeared and 140% on delfino until the stage rose are two that spring to memory) and have not heard of a rule that specifies that this is illegal. altough it totally should be imo. i have nothing against general chaingrabs though.
