The Rules
There will be a tournament at my house in Barry on Tuesday 7th July. I know it's short notice, but if you want to come, let me know as soon as possible. It's £4 to enter. There will be snacks provided and cash prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd place. The winner will be almost-officially named "Best In Wales".
There will be two pools of players that will be picked randomly from a hat. All of those players will play best of 3 matches against each other and the 2 top players from each pool will go through to the semi finals. The top player from one pool will verse the second highest player from the other pool in a best of 5 match and then the Grand Final will be a best of 5 that takes place after the two losers from the semi finals have a best of 5 for 3rd place.
Tournament Rules
General rules:
• 3 stock
• 7 minutes
• Items set to ‘off’ and ‘none’
• Controller ports are determined by Rock-Paper-Scissors if there is a dispute
• If the time runs out, the winner is determined by stock, then by percent
• All persons are responsible for their own control scheme and must make sure it is set before the match begins
• Any action that prevents a game from continuing results in a forfeiture of the match for the offender
Gameplay rules:
• Meta Knight's Infinite Dimensional Cape Glitch is banned
• If a game ends with Bowser or Ganondorf using a Sacrificial KO (with Flying Slam or Flame Choke respectively) and the game is tied, then the Sudden Death is ignored and the Bowser or Ganondorf player is declared the winner
• Stalling is banned - Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling, but using chain grabs infinitely against a wall (excessively beyond around 300%) or using Sonic's Neutral B repeatedly underneath the stage is
Set format:
1. Both players choose their characters for the first game. A double blind pick may be requested by either player
2. The first stage of a match is selected either randomly or by a stage striking procedure from the neutral stages
3. Both players may choose one counter-pick stage to be banned for the match
4. The loser of the first game announces the stage that he/she will counter-pick
5. The winner of the previous match chooses his/her character
6. The loser of the previous match chooses his/her character
7. Repeat steps 4-6 for successive matches
Stages:
• Neutral – Final Destination, Battlefield, Smashville
• Counter – Castle Siege, Halberd, Lylat Cruise, Pirate Ship, Pokémon Stadium 1, Delfino Plaza, Frigate Orpheon, Brinstar, Green Greens, Yoshi’s Island (Brawl), Corneria, Luigi's Mansion, Norfair, Pictochat, Rainbow Cruise
Just a few things:
• Some drinks and snacks will be provided, but bringing your own food is advisable
• Clean up please, this is my parents house
• Bring your own controller (I will supply batteries for wireless ones)
• No Johns
