TourneyPlay 2 FULL RESULTS, + VIDEOS. Mew2King + SoCal @ Washington!

TourneyPlay 2 took place June 6-7, 2009, in Lynnwood, WA (Seattle area). Total entrants only reached about 74, however, Mew2King, many of SoCal's top players (including DSF, DEHF, Tyrant, Fiction, HugS, and several unranked players who tagged along), two of NorCal's finest (Sean and Sky), Oregon, and even Idaho attended.

This is the first time Washington and California have ever really met up, and there was really a good cross section of the entire west coast (plus Mew2King), and as expected, there were some surprising results.

Pools of 7-8 were held, with 2 people from each pool moving to a bracket of 32 (16 players skipped pools- including all ranked SoCal players who attended, Mew2King, Sean, and the top of Washington and Oregon's power rankings).

Yes, Mew2King got third in Brawl. No results were decided on a pot split (however, Mew2King and Tyrant agreed to a pot split before playing Winners Finals...however, M2K never made it to grand finals). Mew2King lost to Tyrant's Metaknight in dittos in winners, and Fiction's Wario in losers finals. Tyrant went on to beat Fiction in grand finals after not taking an offered pot split.

Also, I think it is very notable that of the top six players, three were Metaknight, and the three "MK slayers" that were not all believe MK should be banned (Fiction, MikeHAZE, and Valdens). I'll say no more on the topic, but I found it an interesting statistic.

For those not familiar with WA's smash scene, we have an Olimar player named Weruop that lives directly in the middle of the state. He's very young and unable to travel- this was his third tournament. We just play with him online. He's also one of our best players, but unranked due to his lack of tournament attendance.

Notable upsets/surprises/interesting events:

Weruop beat DEHF in tournament- DEHF got 9th.
Valdens beat Havok and Sean and Weruop
Chip beat Sean
Fiction and Tyrant both beat Mew2King. Mew2King got 3rd.
Weruop beat HugS.
t0mmy (from Oregon) beat Sky

Crew Battle Results:

Jem took two stocks off of DEHF.

Weruop took one stock off DEHF, lost two.

MikeHAZE took out Weruop's remaining stock without a loss.

Chip took two stocks off of MikeHAZE.

Praxis took one stock off of MikeHAZE, and two off of HugS.

Results: SoCal had 4 stocks remaining, Fiction did not play. Praxis as WA MVP with three stocks taken, MikeHAZE and DEHF both taking five stocks for SoCal.

Also, I have over 100 videos recorded on my Wii, I'll get stuff uploaded later.

Inui, he has lost to 4 different people in singles recently. He's PROBABLY still the best, when you take into account consistency and all that, and that is WHY people make a big deal about it, because it's not so absolute and unquestionable anymore.

umm just so you know me and tyrant agreed to split the pot before we played our set. I beat Fiction 2-0 in winners then lost 3-2 in losers. Fiction wasn't part of it. Fiction beat Tyrant 3-1 first set then lost 3-1 second set.

M2K: Huh. I remember Tyrant talking about agreeing to a pot split, but when M2K lost to Fiction and didn't fight Tyrant in finals I just assumed it didn't go through.

My apologies for the mistake. Regardless, the point was that all the matches were PLAYED, no results were decided by a pot split. However, perhaps the agreement of a pot split affected the results between M2K vs Tyrant. *shrug*

And Felix couldn't stay for the second day, so he ***** his pool but forfeited instead of entering the bracket.

I'd argue him for a top WC Diddy, and everyone from SoCal who played him spoke highly, but he's never been outside of WA.
