Rough Schedule:
11:00: When the doors open
1100 - 1200: Registration/Friendlies
1230: Is when we would like to start doubles
Singles start once doubles gets close to ending


Attention! There is going to be a husky football game the same day as this tournament. I HIGHLY recommend you leave a bit earlier because traffic getting in to seattle and in the udistrict gets crazy when there's a husky game.


Location
What is it? Due to problems we had with the owner at oasis bubble tea we decided that we're going to move these monthly tournaments to a house that some UW smashers had just moved in to. It's obviously in the university district, and there should hopefully be many places to park along side the road since it's a residential area.

Pricing

Registration will be at the front door when you enter

Venue Fee: $5
Melee Singles: $5
Melee Doubles: $10 per team

Singles Payouts: 60/30/10
Doubles Payouts: 70/30

The majority of the venue fee will go toward pizza that we order for everyone to eat. Anything extra remaining from the venue fee will go towards the people that live in the house since they are providing a place for us. Venue fee will cover other misc. things such as if things break/anything weird we have to clean up etc. The venue fee might possibly be saved over time and spent on TVs/gc/vcr that we could use in the future as extra setups.


General Ruleset

-4 stock
-Best of 2 out of 3 sets
-Finals will be best of 5
-8 minute time limit
-Items off
-Ties broken by lives, then %

-First stage agreed upon or random
-Dave’s Stupid Rule (DSR): No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage.

-Stage Knock Out: Each person may choose one stage to be disabled for the entire set, it must be chosen at the beginning of the set, after initial characters are chosen.
-Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser.

-Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
-Team Attack will be ON
-Life stealing allowed

I'm coming to this, but depending on how late it goes, I'll probably have to leave early, because I have a thing on Friday nights (I'll have to leave probably at 6:30ish, but I probably won't get far, anyway)

newbie looking to check out the melee scene here in seattle, will probably come to this. Put down sutyo.
My friend will probably come as well, so except to see a couple new faces at the tourney.

also we're available for any other newbies(or anyone in general) who are looking for some friendlies in seattle

I live around north seattle, my friend lives in tacoma but hes usually always in town and hes the one I usually play with. I live kinda out of the way but my friend has a car so we'd down to drive somewhere to play some smash.

I'm probably not available tomorrow, but if you're looking to play people regardless of skill level (its mostly just our tech skill thats lacking; we know the basics of competitive play) then my friend and i would be down to play for a bit. But this is off topic, so I'll post this again in the WA melee thread.

Right. That idea was actually Kip's but im not sure if he's going to be working on that saturday. He suggested that people bringing setups get a free entry fee, but if he's not there then that's up to me. I don't really mind either way.

What do you guys think? People bringing setups get a free entry in singles OR doubles.

i like it since i always bring a setup, lol.

I would say free entry is a bit much.... If anything it should be towards doubles not singles.

Btw Andy hit me up this weekend, cuz i have a feeling at the way things are going now, it doesn't seem very organized and looks like it's going to get pretty messy.
