You could try to do with the new Michigan circuit is doing with regards to the circuit pot. They aren't taking money out of the pots of each tournament, instead they are charging a venue fee and part/all (dunno which) of that is thrown into a circuit pot for the winner.

Panda: I want this to be as simple as possible. While that isn't a bad idea, once money is involved there becomes and extra layer of complexity and also of responsibility. I want this to be simple - if you want your tournament in this circuit you only need to conform to 3 things - adding OC# [insert number], having the same prize payout areas, and doing what any responsible TO should do anyways, which is post full, comprehensive results.

Essentially it requires no extra work on the part of the TO if they want to be part of the Ohio Circuit. The simply follow the payout and label the event as part of the circuit and viola, they are set to go and I will take care of everything else (which is just the points/linking to results and tournament threads, also a simple task). There will be no complications on standardized rules or any of that stuff.

I've sent out invites to the "Ohio Circuit Group". If you accept I'll assume that means you are down for this and it is confirmation.

I wasn't aware MI was likewise doing a circuit...

BRING IT MI.

I'll help out as much as I can.

However, OUGA won't be able to host any tournaments this fall due to schedule conflicts.

And WHEN did the GOD KAIS recruit AZ?!?!?!?!?!?

I wish there was something in NW Ohio to go to, like near findlay or bowling green...-_-

I still think there should be a small amount taken from each event's pot to go towards the circuit. I'm trying to set up a bunch of stuff, when I get some time I'll keep everyone updated.

this makes some sense for the power rankings, but in no way should be the actual power rankings itself

I don't see the Cleveland tourney being the first event... Only NEOH players attend that series... And I'm not sure King can hold many more people in his basement anyway... As much as easy points would be nice, it wouldn't be very fair... Has he said anything about it yet?

I don't think this is meant to take precedence over or replace the power rankings, Kel... It will help with seeding in tournaments if anything...

that's what she said
Ouch? Burned? :/

Wouldn't it make more sense to just include ALL Ohio tournaments as events and keep track of the rankings through that?

If you wanted to get really technical in ranking the highest players, you could make placements obsolete and just go by who you beat. Beating someone above you gives you X amount of points, giving someone below you Y amount of points.

It'd be like an Ohio Smash RPG. o_o

You mean like a ladder system? Would you wanna be the one that has to do those calculations after every tourney?

Edit: Actually, I'd probably be able to write a program that takes in tio files and does all the calculations automatically... I would definitely volunteer to do it if we were to go that route... :D

Honestly, we should leave it as it is this time and then see the aftermath of this. If it works well, then leave it as it is but, if there's seems to be a a problem, then I say we worry about this then.

Anyone agree?

I do. This is the first test. A stepping stone. I just want to get everyone working and keeping in mind they are part of larger scheme of things (mainly there are multiple, great TO's in Ohio who all have events).

I also wanna see the pride get put on the line.

Argent: not a bad idea, but I think for now a flat point system is fine. There are gonna be so many events (as in, hopefully, 10ish) that it is expected most people will miss not just 1 event, but probably 3-4 (or more) events.

Just curious but Alpha, are you going to keep up to date with each passing tournament or post results of where everyone is at after a couple of tournaments?

I hope that was clear enough to understand.

Katon: that would be amazing.

Beegs: I'm always on Smashboards (except when I'm at Smash tournaments, in class, playing Smash, or at MLG events like the past 4 days). This will be kept more up-to-date than any circuit EVER.
