Melee Tournament Livestreams

So i think its silly that people including myself keep posting separate threads for livestreams. I think this is a good idea but if its not then mods feel free to close this down. Ultimately i think they should add a whole new category for livestreams but I think this would be sufficient for a while. If it turns out to work please sticky.

Rules:

Post the name of the tournament, where the tournament is taking place, any big names at the tournament, name of the person and channel of the livestreamer, the respective tournament thread link, and the estimated time the livestream will be going for. I would post ahead of time that way you can get more viewers. Apparently Justin.tv is super leet for streams.

Try to keep the posts to advertising streams only and keep the tournament discussion in the respective tournament thread.


Edit 4/1/2010:

So i believe now that ustream rather than justin.tv is the better way to go. In Ustream, you can record the whole tournament, and then highlight matches later I don't believe justin.tv has this capability. What I reccomend doing now is using ustream to stream the live feed, at the same time, use justin.tv to stream your laptop camera or webcam so the players and venue can be seen.

Recording and Streaming at the same time: Homemadewaffles has been able by using two laptops and two dazzles and splitters to record both high quality videos and stream simultaneously. Also AJPAnton has a video capture card that can do both.

If it's not too much work for Ballistics, you could always edit the original post with whatever stream(s) are or will soon be online. Or a mod if they feel so inclined.

I don't really think this would be an appropriate forum for this. The main reason being that when a livestream is going on, all it will do is generate random posts about the tournament which are more suited for that tournament's thread, and when there isn't a tournament, it will likely be random spam that has nothing to do with anything.

Most of the information will become dead anyway eventually because livestreams are only good for the day they are, and after that, the link and info is pretty much useless. Also, not to mention most people don't know their livestream link to relatively close to the tourney, and possible the day of.

I do like the idea of integrating livestream stuff into the Melee Vids Section somehow, but I don't think this is the best way. I'll close this for now, and in the meantime think of a better way to do this. If anyone else gets a good idea PM it to me and I'll try to make it happen. For now just rely on the tourney threads, find the livestream links there, and discuss there.

I'll keep this opened until we think of a different solution instead of the other way around.
