making custom built stages legal (suggested rules)

In my opinion it would be pretty coll to legalize custom built stages into tournement play.
So I've been think, "we might want to do this." It would help some match ups and it would make things a little more interesting.


When should you bring out the custom stage builder?
If both players decide on it they can build a stage that they both agree on.
-Two minute time limit.
-Players take turns building.

If the match is 2/5 the current loser may build a stage.
-One minute time limit.
-Only the player that is losing can build.


What is banned, counter and legit?


Anything in green is legit.
Anything in yellow is counter.
Anything in red is banned.

The ban system.
If it has two marks on it (ie moving platforms) that means that the tourney head decides wether what that piece/part of the stage is banned/legit/counter.

When making a stage both players can choose 3 things that are counter to ban.

Floors
All floors with the exception of the slanted one is legit. The slanted one is a counter.

The at least 4 concecutive floor piece's rule.
You have to have at least 4 piece'e of floor in a row (left to right) to make up the main part of the stage.

Where floor is allowed.
Any piece's of floor that is a not a fall through platform is NOT allowed in the ban.
Fall through platforms can be anywhere on the screen (making wall of pain a true pain).

Structures
You are ONLY allowed 2 structures.

(no comment on the structures yet)

The Structure rule.
No Structures are allowed past the edge of the stage.

Features
You are ONLY allowed 3 features.

Moving platforms are legit/counter.

Spikes are banned for obvious reasons.

Ice Blocks are banned/counter.

The Wheel is legit.

Springs are banned.

Falling floor is banned/counter.

Ladders are legit/counter.

The Features rule.
No features are allowed past the edge of the stage..

Stage Size.
Small- legit/counter/banned
Medium- legit
Large- legit/counter/banned

I see time issues, and it seems a little too complecated.

I'd rather go with a legalization before the tournament started.

The whole counter/banned aspect seems entirely arbitrary. What's so wrong with making Battlefield with springs off the ledges that they have to be banned outright?

What if both of us decide that we want a stage made entirely of spikes and there isn't a TO around to stop us?

That's nice. I just didn't like the way to bring it out. Maybe the TOs would make some Custom Stages for their tournaments. That way will just spend too much time IMO

Actually i didn't like it very much when it comes to the time.
It is a really nice idea but it opens lots of chances for bugs. And if the looser has just 2 minuts to build it, the winner has just 2 minuts to imagine the match up on it.... I mean, we spend weeks or even monts thinking on match ups and if this is going to be legit on the camps, we're going to do it in less than 2 minuts... Impossible.

Nice idea... Nice formalizations...
But seems impossible to put it out. x)

wow a tourney with created stages is a kool idea, i should remember this for mabye a side tourney.

The one thing I dont like what OS did was make libra like Final D and equity like battlefeild Im more for custom stages as counter picks for now so there not mandatory like they where at that tounry

i made about 8 maps now that consist of a single floor, some include platforms some don't that's all, really just to get away from the neutrals that brawl already provides.
